That being said, I have the Escort 9500ix, it's a great system. It will go off almost a mile before you can even see the cop. It also blocks out false alarms, and stores the location of speed cameras, which is good in Arizona.

I've haven't gotten a ticket in over 3 years. And if I did get a ticket I'm fully aware that it is my fault and accept the consequences of my actions.

With that aside, I enjoy driving. I don't drive to get from point A to point B. I have fun while I drive, and most of my friends consider me a safe driver as well. You need to understand your limits, your car's limits, and be aware of your surroundings, and the law.
Over generalizing?? Really?? We're not over generalizing way too much, we're way too much experienced with what speed does to the human body. I guess you never recovered the remains of a family from a car that you could not identify make or model after some kid slammed head on into them, and yes he had a detector.
I never stated that people who possess them are wreck less or a danger to society, though I see zero benefits in owning a detector other then spotting the police when your doing something you shouldn't, there's a reason they're illegal in some areas.
Come in the back of my rig after a high speed collision and you'll see exactly why I am expressing my opinion and hopefully have a new found respect for life and your machine that's fun to drive.
Not attacking you at all Xantonin or anyone here for that fact, it's just some of us have seen the end result of what these devices can perceive to those who are inexperienced or wise enough to know their limits.
For those who fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.

I almost stopped reading there. Are you _trying_ to prove my point for me?

Why stop reading when I say kid, he was 18, to me that's a kid...I know I was at that age....and how i wish to be there again!

If your point is age, speed knows no age. I've been overtaken by grandma and grandpa on the highway once or twice, one blew by me doing at least 90 in a 65.
Speed is an illness just like detailing, only the consequences are a bit more severe!
I just offered the original poster my recommendation on a radar detector, your brain. Like booze and cell phones along with other things, nothing good comes out when behind the wheel.

        But it's all good!

I was involved in a collision that prematurely ended my career. I could not agree more with Underdawg.
