  • Please watch this...

This video is very sobering but should be seen by everyone. It's too bad it's not aired here in the U.S. As a former first responder I can tell you that the screams and things you see at bad accident scenes NEVER leave you and this video sparked some very bad memories of mine. My wife asked me why I was crying when I watched this. I just told her "Because I've seen real families torn apart like this..."

This is true. Please everyone this holiday season know when to say when. Don't drink and drive.

Just to add the video above is a little graphic. It sends a message, so I am going to leave it for now until I can check with Mr. Stoops and Mr. Pennington. Just be warned in case small eyes should see.

    Thanks

This video should definately be aired here in the states. It won't though due to the shock value which is a shame because this should be shown to everyone getting a drivers liscense.....just may save a life.

I'm with you Troll, I've been an EMT for the past 3 years now....in EMS for 7 and after your first bad MVA, you're never the same. Hollywood can do so much to make these types of videos and to those not in the emergency services or have never witnessed something like this.....in real life it's 10 times worse and then some. Its to the point were I have zero remorse or compassion for the ones responsible if I'm assigned to them.

When my daughter gets to the driving age, I'm gonna sit her down and show here the things that dad has seen and done with the hopes that she'll be much more educated in the consequences of a bad mistake or stupid idea behind the wheel.
If my family ever gets taken out by a drunk or druggie...may God give them mercy for I will not.

Very sobering. Anyone with a conscious would think twice about drinking and driving.

I think it is a must see for everyone.

I have seen many videos like this. It makes me question if people should drive at all in the first place

I hear you on that. My first fatal MVA involved the younger brother of a guy that I had gone to high school with. We saved the passenger in the front but the classmate's brother and another kid in the back went right as we got there. I used the Holmatro tools and got the roof off while the EMT's got the passenger out. His left leg looked like a bow. I remember I held on to my emotions until we were done and then I just flopped down in the back of the squad and shook. There were things on my turnout gear that I will never forget. The men and women I ran with are all great people and really supported me by telling me that my reaction was normal and talked everything out with me. Over time I learned how to manage my emotions more yet the pain of seeing and hearing what you do as a first responder never leaves.

Yeah, fortunately I'm a white cloud, but when I do get a bad call....they're bad. My first fatal were I was first on scene was a guy drunk on a motorcycle who blew a stop sign and t-boned a pickup. Bike was engulfed on impact, luckily the female and child in the truck were not hurt.Troll I see your from Sinking Springs, I'm sure you've made it out to 222 plenty of times!

*Cringe* That sounds awful. I hated MC accidents. They were almost always guaranteed to be bad.

I actually ran with Cetronia in South Whitehall Twp, Lehigh County for quite a while. When I moved to Berks and married my wife I ran a bit with Womelsdorf but then took a break when my first son was born. Now with two kids I haven't gotten back yet. Funny thing was though, I was actually going to stop by Liberty Fire Co (Sinking Spring) this Monday and see if they needed any help.

I am very familiar with Rt 222. I take it everyday into Reading to work. What a death trap!!!

That was the by far the worst one MC crash I ran....white cloud here!

I run for Leola Ambulance and SVEMS down here in Lancaster. Over at Leola we have a small piece of 222 between Ephrata and the Oregon Pk exit. I remeber 222 used to be really bad and for awhile there between Lancaster and Reading it was dubbed the "Highway to Hell" because of all the fatalities.
I sure am glad they extended the highway from the county line up past Penn Ave. what took me an hour to get into Reading now only takes about 30 minutes.

I'd say go for it...I'm sure they need all the help they can get. I know most companies down here in Lancaster are feeling the pinch of not having as many vollies as they'd like.

I've heard of Leola! That's cool to see another first responder on here.

Yes, 222 has gotten better since the extension. It's still really bad when you go north towards Allentown in the areas where it narrows from a 4 lane highway into a two lane road in Maidencreek and Kutztown. The commissioners here are pushing the state to make it limited access all the way through but I don't see that happening for years.

I'll let you know how things work out at Sinky. Unfortunately it won't be until I get back up here to my parents house as I myself don't have internet access right now (computer problems) I hope to get time to work on the PC in depth soon.

I gotcha, yeah that 2 lane stretch between Radaing/Kutztown and onto Allentown is a drag....fortunately I only get up that way a few times a year.

Leola is a nice quiet little town most of the time.
We even have the shiniest ambulances around......see!
