  • How to clean Plasma Screen?

Hey guys, I believe I have a plasma screen on my laptop and I was wondering how exactly are you supposed to clean it? I've just used a damp cloth before, but it doesn't work great.

What's the best and safest way to do it?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

I don't believe they make plasma screens for laptops. It's most likely an LCD.

In either case, just use one of your microfibers with some window cleaner and it should be fine. Clean it while it's turned off because it cleans better when it's not hot. Use little pressure.

I usually use invisible glass and microfibers on my flatscreens and computer screens. Just make sure the screen is nice and cool before spraying.

          Hi Andrew,

The instructions that came with our Plasma TV say to use any “dishwashing soap” and mix it 100 to 1 with water.

Easy way to do this is to go out to the garage and get your Gold Class Shampoo and put 1/4 ounce of the Shampoo
into a large container and add 25 ounces of water. This will give you the 100 to 1 mixture.

This is a LIFETIME supply if you are just doing your laptop ...

Just transfer some into to a small spray bottle to keep with your computer supplies. Add a small Microfiber towel
and you will have the cleanest (and best smelling) laptop on your block.

See you at the next TNOG in March.

          Have a great evening.

Any Glass Cleaner is fine, use a nice microfiber towel, with Little to no pressure at all. It does help if the screen is cool. If the screen is not glossy then I would use a dab of warm water on a Microfiber towel.

Re: How to clean Plasma Screen?

I like foaming glass cleaners, like Sprayway, since they aren't as likely to run into the cracks.

I've been using a eurow shag towel and glass cleaner (NXT, GCC, IG, etc) and it works awesome.

Re: How to clean Plasma Screen?

I have some very poorly scripted bottle of lcd cleaner that might still be sold somewhere..

It's called: LCDSCREEN CLEANING KIT -without the space between 'lcd' and 'screen.'
"Clean, sterilize, wipeoff smea, protective, anti-static -spelled exactly as whats on the bottle...

                  *OPERATING PROCEDURE*
Spray cleanser evenly onto the complimentary superfine fibre cloth, wipe the things, then scrub the things with clean superfine fibre colth or drytowel. -Now, trust me! I didn't make any mistakes. This is exactly how it is written on the bottle.

Finally, it says: Expert advice clean screen once time a week. -still, no spelling errors on my part.

Sorry, I really didn't mean to rant on about nothing in your post, but I had to get it off my chest!

By the way, the stuff does work! Spray it on a microfiber and on you go!

Would be careful about harmful chemicals.
Have been using a anti-static LDC,plasma screen cleaner kit, they are usually sold at around $5.00

Re: How to clean Plasma Screen?

I'm guessing mine is an LCD but it is glossy, I just want to make sure the glass cleaners won't harm the screen at all.

Probably want to stay away from glass cleaners with ammonia, as they are bad for window tints they can probably be bad for computer screens?

Used Meguair's Glass Cleaner Concentrate, almost all of the QDs in Meguiars and from other manufacturers, still have yet to see any adverse effect from using them, yet (plasma and LCD monitors/tv). Normal dust pile up, I'll just use RO water and damp up the MF then wipe them off.

I've been a big fan of this product for several years. It is recommended by many leading manufacturers and it works very well.

They point out that use of alcohol and ammonia based cleaners will cause long term degradation of your screen.

I have a 60" Pioneer Plasma that I use this on and it does seem to repel dust well. I also use this on my laptops, 24" iMac, iPhone and a couple of navigations screens.
