  • Detailing.com write-up (Pic)

Let me start off saying that I am in no way trying to sway anyones opinion as to who they should use for their detailing supplies. I just wanted to let everyone know how my experience was. I am feeling this "Economic Crisis" just like everyone else and I am not going to turn my nose up at saving some money. So if I offend anyone with this thread please let me know so I can make it right.
Thanks for looking and I hope this helps.

So I decided I would try detailing.com for my next order.
I really want to keep giving Rick at ADS business because he is local and a great guy but I figured everyone deserves a fair chance.

Anyways, I compared prices between the two (Detailing.com vs. ADS) and Detailing.com was cheaper. Thats not to say that Rick wouldnt honor their prices though. Having met Rick, I would say due to his exceptional customer service and genuine concern for his customers that he would match the prices without question.

Most items in the D-Line and Mirror Glaze are typically 3-5 and 3-7 dollars cheaper respectively.

I realize that that may not seem like a lot but when you are buying 10-20 items that really adds up, and for the people like me who are terrible at math thats approximately 30-60 dollars in savings conservatively speaking.

Although I have the convenience of hopping in my car and cruising over to ADS to pick up my order the same day I place it (its okay to be jealous) I ultimately only saved about 3 dollars after I paid for ground shipping from UPS but those of you that do not have that luxury and have to pay for shipping either way, detailing.com may be another option for you.

Here is the order I just recieved. Oh yeah and one other thing, why is it that when you are waiting for your delivery , you are the last house on the route? Anyone else have this problem? I checked the website this morning and it says "out for delivery - 06:45am" and I finally get it at 7pm ! Ugh. It was worth the wait though.

Well, if the service is good at both, why waste the money? I do like ADS, but detailing.com carries some CG products too. Rick still has the market cornered with his sample sizes though.

It is nice to have choices, but don't forget to factor in shipping costs. It may not be as sweet a deal after shipping. Ric and ADS does have great customer service. One of my orders was missing an item (the weight on the box showed it was there when shipped), but Ric sent me a replacement right away with no questions asked.

They are good people there. I'm probably going back down there this weekend for some wash pads and water sprites. Rick is still ahead though, he carries Optimum.

Hey now, wait a minute. I never said I was never going back to Rick. Like I said I think Rick is an awesome guy and has a drive for customer satasfaction like none other. Im sure I will be back to Rick to spend hundreds more of MY hard earned money. I just wanted to give this place a shot. It wasnt about the money as much as it was just mixing it up and trying something new. So lets not jump to conclusions. This particular site also carries some products that Rick does not, and on the other hand Rick carries products that they do not. Anyways, hope my post helped some people. Sorry if it upset others.

                          Re: Detailing.com write-up (Pic)

First thing I thought was shipping as well. I checked and the shipping cost on 2 bottles of Last Touch was the same from both companies (Detailers and ADS). Two bottles of Last touch was about $5 less at Detailers. But Grit Guards were $2 more then Amazon (Amazon is the cheapest I've found for Grit Guards).

I think ADS has created a _great_ nitch in supplying "samples" (they are called this but the amount is really a lot). I don't now of anyone else that does this. Some items are going to be cheaper at some places and other items are going to be more expensive. We all know of 5 or 7 places that offer great service. I tend to shop around with what I need and pick the place with the lowest cost for all of those items. If free shipping makes it less that week, then I buy from that place. It's not that I don't have loyalty, if I did to one place then I'd not have loyalty to the other 6 good businesses. My loyalty is narrowing down my choices to the handful of places that have good service. My "loyalty" is also to the business that is willing to give me, the consumer, the best deal on the items I need. So I "support" lower prices.

I'd agree that mentioning a place that offers good prices is not a bad thing. Each person can make up their own mind on where to buy. I'm sure if people buy everything from Autogeek that they'd not mind someone posting Autogeek's lower prices. Same could be said about the other handful of companies.

Why not just shop at BOTH (this applies to others as well)?

I like to use autogeek since they have everything, but ever since I found out detailing is local I started using them.
