Just curious, does anyone on MOL tinker with mountain bikes? I'm considering cleaning up an old frame and rebuilding it.

Re: Any Mountain Bikers on MOL?
I love mountain biking. It's been a few years but it's time to get back into it now. My mom and step dad both competed in the Cactus Cup in the 90's and did very well.
My old Specialized mountain bike just might be the right material for an extreme makeover post!

I'm going to start cleaning mine up this weekend. Pretty excited about it, actually.
There is a cool site I've found called www.retrobike.co.uk, they have a forum where folks are rebuilding older bikes.
Also, http://bicycletutor.com/ is a good resource with video and walk-throughs on repairs.NOTE: Post count does not reflect actual detailing knowledge.

Re: Any Mountain Bikers on MOL?
I was looking to start biking again. I want to purchase a bike so I was planning on going to a bike shop to get fitted and learn a little more about them. What are considered good/reliable bike brands? I rode a Fuji at work that I really liked called the Nevada 3.5. What else is there that is good and also a good value? Thanks.-HealthyCivic

Re: Any Mountain Bikers on MOL?
Yep.
I've worked at a shop for the last 12 yrs or so. 8 bikes in the fleet at the moment, with the main rides being a Fisher Rig for the dirt, and a Fisher Triton for commuting. Singlespeed on everything. The only way to go in the midwest.
Seems like there's less and less time to ride with other things in life unfortunately....It's only weird because it's not normal

Re: Any Mountain Bikers on MOL?
I am all about mtb. I have been riding longer than i have been detailing. Right now the stable is jam pakced with 9 bikes. My favorite bike are a Jamis fs bike and my rocky mountain slayer. I build up all my frames. I have yet to find a pre built bike built with the components i want at the pricepoint I want. In fact most of my friends have me build their bikes for them. I have a RMX7 I am restoring right now and a friend is waiting for me to replace the fork he destroyed, once he gets his new one in.

Love the MTB ! I usually ride at least 4 times a week. Nice thing about living in Az is that we can ride year round !
Here is my 2006 Specialized EPIC FSR M5. I picked this up after I broke the frame on my Rocky Mountain.
If any of the Arizonians want to hook up and ride, hit me up. Ive been all over and know some pretty sweet trails.
Hope you enjoy.Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
