  • Oh no. I might be getting a silver car...

You all may or may not have heard, I'm going to UTI for a year. I just got here Tuesday and my dad is wanting to buy me a 03 solara coupe. Sounds great, right? But the thing is silver! Our least favorite color.
I guess I'll paint the Toyota black and save the blacking process of my Caprice for after I graduate.

Anybody have advise for those cars? I looked up some pics, I can dig the looks. I'll probably put in some HIDs, serious code alarm, and tint the glass.
I hope it's got badges and swirls... Maybe even pinstripes. Stuff I'll want to remove.

I'm kinda afraid it will look too much like a Lexus and someone will try to jack it.

How are they with highway milage? My beast of a caprice gets about 25 MPG loaded down with 500 extra pounds. So I might use that to go back home.

I about got a 06 solara coupe. I'm glad the dealer played game with us. I had problems seeing out the back, but then again I wasn't messing with the seat too much. I found the ride to be comfy but at the expense of zero steering feel. It was lifeless and light. But the 03 I think is a different generation than the one I drove.

I would love a silver car. Sealants like NXT 2.0 seem to make a properly prepared silver car look extremely impressive in my experience. A nice deep candy shell look on silver paint is absolutely beautiful, plus swirls and scratches are impossible to notice.

maybe that's why I wouldn't like it. Lol.
My brother is going to check it out tomorrow... He's almost as picky as me. He will let be know what all it need.

          I didn't get the solara.
I got an 04 camry instead. Not in perfect shape, but it's something I'll actually let myself park in parking lots and not be outragously picky about it...
It will probably become my dad's or my brother's.

          [edit]
it's a dark gray and has swirls and buffer trails. There is also a nice glob of polish or wax on the door.
Oh well it's a daily beater, I'll have too much school and work to care about my paint. I'll just keep the windows clayed and rainx'd.

I don't have a problem with silver as a color. Just that there are so many on the road.

If you're like me and have to do correction without proper indoor facilities and lighting, then light metallics are difficult to see. I've even found light swirls,I can see perfectly at night under street halogen, but can hardly see them in sunlight. All I can see is sparkly stuff.

Dark gray you say? Now that is something I would like. Polish and wax, amazing depth and shine.
