2011 Ford Fiesta hits the track: Autocross [Video]
2011 Ford Fiesta hits the track: Autocross [Video]
I was lucky enough to get a set of new Yokohama s.Drive tires to review a few weeks ago so I put them on my Focus wheels, slapped them on the Fiesta, and hit the track!
The S.Drive is supposed to be a very good entry level high performance summer tires. I wonder how the Fiesta would perform with OEM tires.
Good question. I didn't get to try the OEM tires on the track, but I can say that in spirited street driving (legal of course ) it handles superbly well.

It must be fun to test out the Fiesta. North Americans have been making internet requests to Ford for bringing the Focus RS over. I guess the Fiesta is Ford's answer... for now.
They better compensate you for the gas for the effort

Awesome job Mark,
From what I can tell from the video, when the sunlight hits the Fiesta I cannot see any swirl marks. The tires are very cool and they are nicely dressed.
Keep up the good work

Hi Mark...how do you rate the S.Drive?
I've been using Yoko's for years now. I used to use the A520's,but now use the Parada spec 2. These are awsome(dry),like having glue on your tyres.
I've always felt yoko's are never great on the wet...just superb on the dry.
If you're into track days...the Advan A048 is what you want. They are road legal, but are soft and wouldn't last long if used daily.
Anyway...enjoyed the vid... I see more and more every day here. plenty color options too...saw cream yesterday and gunmetal the day before that.
The Civic Si was only 1 second faster on a track that took people an average of over 90 seconds to run.
This Civic also had aftermarket wheels and tires and exhaust (that I could see, who knows what else), and they have a 2.0 liter 197 HP engine, compared to the 1.6 liter 118HP Fiesta.

Only 1 second. Put a set of Advan A048's on and you'll beat the Si...No doubt about it. If there are more bends than straights,it's horsepower's comprimised. Have you got a spare set of wheels for track days?
