  • Sealing Granite Countertops

Just wondering if any of you have any expertise in sealing granite countertops. In AZ, our water is wicked hard, and I have noticed dulling around the faucets and want to address this immediately.

The over the counter sprays from Home Depot ****. I need to step it up!

    Thanks for your help.

What does the 'dulling' look like? I have seen installers put plumbers putty as a seal around the faucet and the oil in the putty gets absorbed by the granite and darkens it. It will need to be reinstalled and before installation a product to absorb the oil will have to be applied. Post a pic.

No, this is defintely from water, not from putty...

If it is hard water spotting then I would soak a paper towel in white vinegar and place it on the area and cover with plastic. Let it soak for a day and then remove with a sponge with the scrungee side. That will not scratch the granite or the faucet if it is not plastic. Let it dry out for a day or 2 and seal with a good sealer from a granite dealer.
