I may not ride as well, but I ride when I can.

The last time that race was held, our company allowed us to stand by the roadside and catch a glimpse of the peloton as it passed by. That goes to show you that there is an interest here in the sport.
The American public’s interest in cycling seems to come and go. It perks up when we have a superstar like Lance or Greg.

As big American stage races go, the Coors Classic lasted the longest. The Tour DuPont was a great race but I don’t think it got enough TV coverage. Even the Tour de France was poorly covered on US TV back then.

Now that cable and satellite TV are everywhere and there are lots of channels you’re finally seeing some decent race coverage. TdF coverage is excellent, as was the Tour of California coverage. We even got to see every stage of the Giro d'Italia this year.

At least the sport of cycling is both openly acknowledging that the problem exists and actively fighting it. Many sports simply ignore it.

This year’s Tour de France was the most tested in history and had zero positive results found.

There was no “his case” in Lance’s case. He has never, ever tested positive for any banned substance of any kind either during or in between competition (not even medically prescribed). And he’s the most tested athlete ever. Nobody has ever come up with even the slightest hint of evidence that suggests that Lance ever doped.

I'm on my bike six hours a day bustin my ###!! What are you on!!"

Well, it wasn't cheap, but in the world of racing bikes it was a freaking steal. $2200 with Shimano Ultegra components brand new. It is THE best value in the cycling world. It's comfy, rides like a dream, and is really light for an aluminum framed bike. My only complaint is that it's a touch stiff for the rotten roads we have around here, so I need to ride on a thicker saddle than I normally would .
If a tree falls in the forest and there's nobody there to record the event, how can you be certain that there was a tree or even a forest to begin with?

Never. Someone in a lab will always come up with something that can defeat the testing procedures or remain in the system undetectably. Additionally, most PES have a short elimination time, and therefor can be used during training to build mass and endurance with use discontinuing a few weeks before the season begins.
We'll never get rid of performance enhancing substances. Ever.

Not a hard core road cyclist, but I do have a 16 year old Trek 800 mountain bike that I enjoy riding to work on a regular basis.

A bit off topic here, but I like to hike for the most part.

Can't do any hiking for now though, because I sprained my ankle on top of Kings Pinnacle Monday.

I got into it a lot in Arizona, hiking Four Peaks, the Superstions, etc... looking for the Lost Duchman's gold

Also, while at work i've stumpled upon some really cool threads about Uburan Exploring, an awesome place for taking pictures.

                Sorry about the ankle
