  • Quality paintwork?

I walked passed a red Ferrari 360 Modena today and was admiring it. It was pretty much swirl free, but difficult to tell under the shade of some trees.
On the way back from the shops,I was walking on the other side of the road and could see the sun hitting the side panels..I was pretty shocked at the amount of heavy looking orange peel was there.Of course,I don't know the history of the car and if it was ever resprayed? Surprising for a car that costs so much.
About a month ago,in a supermarket carpark,I saw a black Corvette C5 and it was pretty smooth.

    Both are stunning cars

yea they are truly quality paintworks, but not quality detailers...
I guess the ferrari factory needs to do some further inspections on the paintwork before delivering...

When I went to the midwest meeting which Jason Rose taught a bit of, he mentioned how the Ferrari's painting areas are actually quite dirty. I was shocked to hear this but then again not all of the customers are as demanding as us detailers.

I read a thread a while ago on Autopia about a ferrari that was delivered in horrifying condition: deep RIDS, horrendous buffer swirls, orange peel and hidden areas (ex: under fender lips) that were only partially painted. The pictures made me cringe. He had to charge around $350 to correct the paint in addition to the already ludicrous cost the owner paid for a Ferrari.

I was told that if you complain to the company about your $200k+ ride being flawed you get a letter explaining that "Enzo Ferrari always said that you are paying for the engine, consider the chassis a gift" and some other ridiculous dismissals. FYI: I don't know how true that actually is, I don't own a Ferrari imperfect or otherwise.
