Shhhhhhhhh Ryan you aren't supposed to tell anyone that or there won't be anymore free parts.
Haha I'm completely kidding of course.
Good information and another good reason to blur customer's license plates in pictures.
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like. I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
Remove swirls my friends.
I'm really secretive with information on my car. The only sticker I've EVER had on my car was a "#### alarm" notice, just in case the blue flashing LED wasnt a dead give away.
It hasn't gotten broken into, maybe a giblet head tried to once or twice but didn't get the window 'open', that or a way too common hit 'n run.
On my other forum. There is usally a new member from a big metropolitan area, starting threads & asking for "the best(most typical) place to mount an alarm siren." smooth, right?
bottom line is this world is disgusting and nobody is to be trusted.
Daily - 09 Chevrolet Colorado - Techno gray metallic
baby - 92 Chevrolet Caprice Classic - aged, yellowed, white.
Those are very good points Ryan.I'm always a bit cautious about this.It doesn't matter where you are, thieves are everywhere.
This is why I never do anything moneywise on my computer,so if people want to spy or see if there is anything to steal, they'll find nothing of value,so they're onto plums.
I agree with what you are saying about pics of vehicles.I do just that, and take my pics away from my house.Engine bay shots that are cropped are okay.
One thing I noticed in the past about license plate blurring/distorting.Some people just use the warp/twirl to distort the digits. The best is to remove it.They can be warped in the opposite direction, revealing the plate. It's not that hard to do.
Thanks for the reminder! It's an unfortunate reality, but we must also find a balance between protecting ourselves & belongins, and giving in to the evildoers by proactively hiding and locking and showing our fear...thus letting the criminals "win" in a sort of way.
(Was actually thinking of writing a Nobel-prize winning thesis or something on why in the 50's you didn't have to lock your doors all the time; why you could drive to the market with your fishing rods your truckbed and your rifles racked up in the rear window and everything would still be there when you returned...but today you can't do that . Basically why has the world turned to isht. No, I wasn't going to write an essay on this but it's something I've been pondering lately.)
I suppose I should remove my Dynamat license plate cover and reinstall my dealer advertisement cover! It'd be amazing for someone to strip your car of the Dynamat...for anyone who's familiar with the stuff .
So I was reading something on a forum the other day that really makes sense and I thought I would share it.
It was about posting what modifications you've done to your car and such. People have gotten parts stolen off their car because they post information and or pictures of what they've done to their cars.
People then use those pictures to find out where you live and steal everything. The best defense is to block out your license plate and not to take pictures of your car at your house. Even if you crop it, people that know the area will find out where you live.
Also another thing is to always know who is installing stuff on to your car and never give them too much information. If you give them your address they can sell that information to somebody and tell that person exactly how they installed something so the robber can quickly take it off. Installers need nothing more than your first name and a phone number to call you at. Take your plates with you.
Never put branded stickers on your car, that screams "I have this part installed, come steal it."
I know this sounds like too much but its the truth, people are going to steal from you.
Yes I know I'm guilty of this too and am stopping it.
Just food for your brain.
Ryan
Words of wisdom right here.
For those of you with Meguiar's plate/plate frames, don't keep your G110 in your trunk!
I suppose I should remove my Dynamat license plate cover and reinstall my dealer advertisement cover! It'd be amazing for someone to strip your car of the Dynamat...for anyone who's familiar with the stuff .
I was going to get a "Got Bose?" decal haha. I saw some Viper with a "Got Cylinders?" decal before, and I thought it was funny. Guess he doesn't have to worry since it'll be hard to pull out an engine (unless the robber just steals the whole car)
