As long as your Caddys engine is in top shape(Tuned up,fresh oil,new filters, plugs) do you know when the last time the O2 sensor was replaced? have a new one installed, throw in a bottle of GTP and a tank of Shell Premium, take it down the highway for a short 15-20 minute cruise and go straight to get it smogged, see how it goes, this is the routine I use on my 83 Silverado and she hasn't failed yet.

It had an oil change a month ago. I don't know the lasst time it had a tune-up or had the O2 replaced. I'll ask the previous owner. I put in a bottle of GTP with 16 gallons of Arco premium. Now I'm thinking of throwing in the Octane Boost with another 16 gallons of either Chevron or Shell premium. It had a smog check 5 months ago with the previous owner and it passed. The previous owner used grade 87 gas and I have been using 89 from Chevron since I've had, for about two months now.

Don't waste your money on all those additives, just run the GTP and Premium gas, give it a good tune ,put in a new O2 sensor, put fresh oil,air filter and make sure the PCV is working, and don't take it to the same smog station, try another and make sure the car is HOT when you take it in

You do not want to swap out any O2 sensers if they are working properly... not sure why folks are telling you need to.

The computer in the car automatically aluminates the CHECK ENGINE light if it were not working correctly and most importantly the first test would of indicated a faulty O2 senser... That alone could make you fail.

I think I might be going on the 8th of August. I picked up a bottle of 104+ Octane Boost. I'll be using that with Shell Premium Gas. 20 gallons at 2.95 a gallon.

You don't need to fill up the whole tank to use the 104+ Octane Booster. You could fill up maybe 4 Gallon and use the entire bottle of 104+ just to pass the smog test. The higher the concentration of the Octane Booster in your fuel tank, the higher the octane index of the fuel, the more likely it is to reduce NOx emission.

I was thinking of filling up since the CRC instructs to refill when running on empty. What if I fill up with 10 gallons and another 10 gallons after the smog check, I don't think it matters but that's I'll end up doing.

Re: My Cadillac didn't pass the smog.

After CRC Guaranteed Pass does its job cleaning up the fuel system and the cylinder heads, it doesn't matter how much fuel you fill into the gas tank.

It is to your best interest to have as high octane as possible to resolve your NOx emission problem. The way to increase octane index is to use a bottle of octane booster with as little gas as possible. After you have passed the smog test, feel free to fill up as much as you want.

If I'm looking at lowering the Nitrogen Oxide and Shell Premium is Nitrogen Oxide enriched, would that be a problem? lol. I'm going with 10 gallons. Also, after putting it the Octane Boost should I take the Smog Check the same day or would the date even matter? Thanks.

Re: My Cadillac didn't pass the smog.

Nitrogen used in liquid detergent, as in the case of the Shell gas enriched with nitrogen-enriched additives, rarely creates more NOx gas. Maybe it will create more N2O, NH3, N2 some other type of gas not considered smog.

Though, the idea of using Nitrogen enriched fuel in this case just sounds ironic.

Did you look for a cheaper shop? I saw some local places on Craigslist offering like $30 checks.

I'll be going to Joe's Smog Check & Test Only Station over in Los Angeles.
