  • Most interesting car you've driven?

This sunday a friend of mine let me drive his 1977 AMC Pacer wagon around for a little bit. This weekend he promises to let me drive his 1971 Buick Skylark. My own car, a 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais, is a rather rare car simply because it is the slightly improved "Calais" model.

What unique/rare/expensive/interesting vehicles have you guys driven?

Hmmm, 1969 Firebird, I never driven a car with Drum Brakes. It was a very good experience though. I was in the passenger seat of a Leopard 2a6 In Germany about two years ago. I dont think anything can top that experience.

1960's Citroen 2CV, 16 hp 2 cyl engine, lawn chair (webbed) seats, fold down windows, umbrella handle sticking out of the dash to change gears with (you sort of stirred it around, hoping for a useful gear change), canvas roof and unbelievable good traction on washboarded gravel corners..... mind you, it took a while to overcome the sea sickness.... the silly thing would lean 30 degrees or more in the corners if one drove in a spirited fashion... which was kinda hard to do with 16 hp but whoa.... then they upped it to 18 hp!

My '64 Chevy P/U with the front shot, makes it an interesting drive none the less.

Our good friends that owns a Mercedes convertible Kompressor (230 or something like that) let us borrow it for a day, it was a nice ride for sure!

Re: Most interesting car you've driven?

My 1986 Porsche 944 is very interesting to me. It's a wonderful piece of engineering and (IMO) a rolling work of art and an extremely significant bit of automotive history - without the 944, Porsche would have gone out of business in the early 80's. Then with the introduction of the 944 Turbo in 1986, they upped the performance envelope across the board, rustling some feathers at certain car companies that end in the letter "I".

I've also driven in my friend's 1985 Nissan 300ZX, another very interesting piece of automotive history, kind of a transition from the Datsun Z/Fairlady cars into the modern Nissan Z cars. It's a bit of a pig off the line, but shows an interesting progression in automobile technology through the years.

I like significant cars in history - TRUE classics - cars that helped to shape the auto market we see now (so I guess I should like the Ford Tempo, Pinto, and Taurus then) and aren't EVERYWHERE.

My Uncle had a King Midget that I drove, now that was an unusual car.

Awww man I could get into some trouble driving one of those! Errr...well let's just say there would be less product to hand out!

I'd say the most interesting vehicles I've driven are my ambulances of course! As well as the military HMMWV and the M1 series MBT.
