I see posts all the time about international members not being able to buy certain products, like the profession line. What kind, if any, restrictions are there if one of us in the states bought these products and shipped them to these people? Is this something that's a big "no-no"? It's not illegal, is it?

Re: International sales of products..
I have helped a few members out with international shipping.
The main thing is to be completely honest in the customs forms. If there is one bottle of M205, there had better be one bottle. Also, the max number of items per box without filing another customs form was five (last time I checked).
International shipping charges are expensive. Because of the weight of the liquids, it's easy to pay $50 in shipping. EMS is definately the best shipping method. You pay a bit more, but the packages always arrive on the exact date. Priority Mail packages can get stuck in customs.Chris

Re: International sales of products..
Do U.S. vendors not ship international just because of the hassle of customs forms and limited items per box?
Zuke, you could become and illegal Megs smuggler lol
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.

Re: International sales of products..
Chris is exactly right and there is more (sometimes).
Having lived on both sides of the border, this can be a real pain in the butt and there are times where Canadian Customs officials will NOT release commercial products without a broker.
I have found there is NO rhyme or reason to their actions but it can just be the luck of the draw.
I shipped some pads to Cali recently, wtihout incident but I know that I've had some major problems getting stuff sent to me (because of Canadian Customs rules). I have had some products held, some that get straight to me and on one occasion I had to pay duty on some stuff. Not fun.----------------------------------

Re: International sales of products..
Overseas shipping can often bring about a wide range of potential issues, from import duties, handling fees, etc. While it may seem simple to just box up a product and slap a foreign address on it, what happens when things go wrong? We are always very accommodating when it comes to issuing refunds or just replacing product that is damaged or doesn't perform to expectations (or is used incorrectly), but this gets complicated when shipping overseas. The customer has paid for the product, shipping, AND the import duties and taxes and will ask for a refund on all of them. Refunding the import duties and taxes isn't something we really want to get involved in. But if we just send a replacement product then the customer is stuck with paying duties/taxes on that shipment as well. Refunds get complicated by exchange rates that are constantly changing.
It's fairly common for us to send small orders of product to a hotel that a customer from overseas is staying at while visiting the US, or for a relative to accept delivery to a US address and then ship to their relative overseas.Michael Stoops

Sorry Mike, I was just wondering about person to person shipping to help out our international members. Not a Meg's stand on the issue. Just trying to look out for these guys that can't get M105/M205. They are truly awesome products that everyone should have available2008 Meguiar's Batmobile Team

Thanks for taking the time to bring this up Nick.I am missing out on a lot of good products here, like M105/205.I can get a lot of the consumer goods now,but the professional line is nowhere.
The problem is here(I think?),that a lot of consumers don't know Meguiar's and so you don't see much here.Possibly similair to not seeing much autoglym in the states,as an example. In an equivalent of walmart here, you'll not see Meguiar's....You'll only see it in auto shops.I know myself how good meguiar's is and I've done a fair bit of going round local auto shops to try and help out.
As far as the professional products go,i've tried to contact Meguiar's.it by email, but they have never replied and i am not anywhere near them. They advertise the pro line on their website.Maybe someone from admin here can get in touch with them and see what's the score?,or tell me how to get in touch with them, via telephone?

Re: International sales of products..
I always ship everything to a hotel in the US. Last time my dad took 80lb worth of detailing stuff back to Holland. I really love M105 and M205. And Meguiar's is just way too expensive out here. A soft buff pad is 40 bucks. If you think it it's expensive to hire a professional,
hire an amateur first.

Re: International sales of products..
Its a challenge to get Meguiars stuff from my side. Well at my place, I'm cut off from the mainlands therefore to ship goods from the main city to my place adds another shipping cost. Anybody wanna help out, PM me please.

Re: International sales of products..
wow this is a great topic Nick...
I have the same limitation down here, but i kinda understand why there is that limitation.
I think the main reason the detailer lines of meguiars is not available for public use is because they want to ensure that the meguiars detailing (pro-line) product is only used by professional users in body shops.. and also to ensure that people who dont have a wide experience in detailing wont use detailling products they cant handle and will later on comment bad reviews on why meguiars is bad etc... which is why I think the consumer line products is widely available almost everywhere in the world which are mostly failsafe.
