  • Detailing practice gems surface during my move.

So all this week I have been moving my furnishings, belongings, and other gear to the duplex unit next to mine (the one with the driveway!). I'm simply walking out the door with a loaded dolly and basically putting everything where I had it in the old unit.

During my move of my appliances yesterday, I noticed some nasty swirling and scratching that had accumulated on the tops of my washer and dryer. True to detailing form, I immediately saw this as a opportunity to get in some practice time with my DA. I also noticed some rust staining on several sides of the fridge. Looks like I will be claying the fridge and doing a little polishing on it as well.

And the dog's coat is looking a little dusty....

FWIW, I tried to remove the swirls on top of my washing machine, Ultimate Compound on a yellow foam pad on the G110 did not put a dent in them,

      hard paint.

Remember that single stage white is the hardest color paint, so it might take a little more oomph then you are used to when you polish out that Maytag

Epoxy paint is tough stuff! Next time buy the Avocado Green appliances!

I was polishing my hot tub yesterday. The tub had countless swirls and scratches from heavy duty uses (ie. cleaning formats and various household items with it). The surface was an abomination and would cost $300 to polish by the "professionals".

Since tubs are molded with color plastic instead of being painted, it is really hard to remove the outer coat to eliminate the scratch. Instead professoinals use 2000grit sandpaper. Afraid, I headed to work with the following products in the following order:

                  Results:

There are still some deep scratches that polishes cannot remove, but I am amzed at how well ScratchX 2.0 polish the surface back to its smooth surface. All swirl is eliminated.

Um. Ok then! Guess I'm not the only lunatic out there. I have used Meguiar's products on everything from brass lamps to my faucet.

Which product worked the best at cleaning it up?

                        thanks.

i think scratchX 2.0 and SwirlX made the biggest difference. UC didn't seem touch the surface at all.
