Well I failed big time on the paint, it was not the same wood all the way around the garage. Only one wall is, I wanted it wall white Invisible because when its dark outside and i have my lights(4+) all dark wood absorbs all the light. Soooo 90% of it is dry wall with a filmly paper that had no love but to sponge up what i had rolled on it. Help.

If the surface soaked up the paint like you described, you really need to prime it first in order to seal the surface so that when you do apply your paint it does not soak in like you described.

Without pictures to see exactly what you are trying to paint, I would suggest one coat of primer and two coats of paint for good coverage.

By the way, Kilz works really well on OSB. Before replacing the carpets in my houses, I always Kilz the subfloor (OSB) to prevent any stains from soaking back into the carpet pad.

If the dryway is still brown paper colored it hasn't been primed yet. You want to pick up what is called "PVA primer" or sometimes called "first coat". As said above it will soak up paint like a sponge if you don't prime it first. I have a gallon of PVA if you want it. lol

BlueZero, I like the way you painted your garage, the two tone gray and black looks really good.

Hey thanks! I was going to be a red lower with black stripe then white above. I got the cabinet doors painted red and realized it was just to loud of a color for me. I think the gray and black turned out well. Now to repaint the cabinet doors gray. Painting is pretty cool. For not much money you can make the space look so different.

Make sure to post photos Zuke! Having a lighter colored walls and ceiling will really brighten up the space.

You mentioned going to Lowes to get paint. Here is the PVA on Lowes website. It's great too because it's so cheap. Only $25 for a gallon pail. Check the label for coverage.

That's not bad, actually I saw it's $25 for a 5 gallon and $8.98 for a 1 gallon.

I'm shopping for a home and one of my main requests is to have a spacious garage. So I can do what you guys are doing. Man, I can't wait. So the primer you listed is a great tip.

Its actually all drywall with the exception of one wall, I am just going to do 2 coats of primer for now, paint is expensive!

Looking good Zuke! Your garage will be a ton brighter once you get it painted. I'm looking forward to some photos when you done. Paint can get expensive for sure. That's why I like that PVA primer so much, it's cheap compared to the paint.

Here is the latest update, these were taken tonight while the sun was down to give the full effect of how much brighter its getting. This is after 2 thick coats to get it white and not yellow, but water stains are still coming thru, I've gone thru almost 3 gallons of primer, but im just going to get a 5 gallon this weekend, trade of my twin brothers to paint it for a full detail on their FIRST CAR Its a 2004 Jeep Liberty (Yet another red car, im gettin sick of em hehe). But I'll make Ya proud Ryan.

Whatever can give me the brightest look. Id say the ceiling for sure and @ least 2 walls (Not much area). But a few coats if need be. Id says its 15x20x8

Make sure you paint the sealed side, it should cover quickly.
