Re: bought that boat
Shortly out of high school, myself and 3 of my friends all bought V-Drive drag boats; my friend Dick H. bought a Shiada V-Drive Drag boat.
I think I have a picture of it somewhere, if I find it I'll post it to this thread. It was Hugger Orange with a white stripe around the outside perimeter of the hull with a 427 Big Block Chevy. His tow vehicle and weekend racer was a Hugger Orange 1969 Chevelle. Was a great looking combo.
Dick was part deaf and as such never ran any mufflers just straight headers as he couldn't tell it was obnoxiously loud. Weird thing was I never remember him ever getting a ticket for uncapped headers.
Once in a while I would take the Super Traps of my headers to let the engine breathe a little and seems every time I did this just around the corner would either be the Sheriff in a Patrol boat or a State Police in a cruiser, always more then willing to enforce the law.
I have a copy of Hot Boats where they listed all the Drag Boat manufactures through the 1960's to the present, don't remember if there were any contact information for the company or not but I'll see if I can find it.
