  • Catching flack for keeping a clean car.

I don't know about you guys but I get nothing but **** for keeping a clean car And parking 30ft further out in parking lots to keep my brand new car dent free.

I wash it every 2-3 weeks and I have no garage (apt living) so it usually needs it pretty bad after that much time. They think that is totally ridiculous and it's crazy to spend 1.5-2.0 hrs just to wash the outside of the car.

But, nobody can deny it's always the best looking car in the lot. And for the dents, I always double park at work (retail store) out in the overflow lot where nobody else is. If you measured, it's only 30ft. out in the lot than they park.

I'm just tired of hearing about it. It was my 19,500 dollars.

I know what you mean. And I understand your pain of no garage, neither do we and we have a 5 car family. So all year all, we get everything Mother Nature wants to give us. And seeing that you're in the Midwest, you know how bad things can get. But when you're car looks good and stays in good shape, guess who'll get more when they want to sell it/trade it in?

'double parking' will actually get you a dent, or worse.

It is really non of anyone's business how you treat your car.
I used to get odd comment from neighbors like...
When are you going to wash mine car? Response: hand them a business card
Your paint will wear out if you wash that car. Response: You look sharp, why did you open your mouth?

That was a response? It will wear your paint out? Wow...

Yeah, I spent $23,000, I kind of like to have it look nice.

You can't make everyone happy. We humans spend our time, money, and resources on things that make us happy. What are you going to say about that?
(Not "you", but you know what I mean.)

If they tell you to stop spending so much time on your car, tell them to stop spending so much time being a d****bag.

I can't believe you can go 2-3 weeks without washing. I'm lucky to go 2 or 3 days. Let those around you consider themselves lucky!!!

If I didn't have to work so many hours I would was it every couple days!

And about the double parking comment, it's actually a judgement call because I know what you mean. Busy, big box store lot = normal parking far away. It's a case by case decision and I just use my instinct. I know how people can be.

I hear that I'm going to wash the paint right off, "getting it ready for me, huh?," amongst other "clever" things.

I've had my car for six years and it has no door dings *knock on wood* , because I park away from others (everyone can use the extra exercise and walk a few hundred feet) and also park closest to the curb if there is a spot where one side is open to another car. If someone ask's "When are you going to do my car", the simple answer is "Sure, I can use the extra money". I'm sure that will make quiet them up real quick . Bottom Line... It's your car and you paid for it, so it doesn't matter what other's think. You can only take criticism and comments from others to a point...

Get the same comments here. I usually tell them, "it is a test vehicle. We are trying to see if you can really wash off the paint". That usually quiets there comments.

I'm a bit paranoid in supermarket car parks.Just so many ignorant people that don't care if they bash your car with a trolley.

I try and park away from all the mayhem.I don't mind the walk.
