  • R.I.P Billy Mayes

I don't know that commercials will be the same for me having lost Billy Mayes. 50 is just way too young to die..so many celebs we have lost recently..what is going on?? My prayers go out to his family.

The autopsy is suppossed to be tomorrow I think. I read that he had just finished an oxy clean commercial and when the plane landed it blew a wheel or something but he was fine. Then he suddenly died when everyone had said that he seemed fine.

It reminds me of the female celeb (name escapes me) who died after a ski accident and thought she was fine but ended up doing damage to her brain. They think something may have fell on his head when the plane hit hard. Idk Im sad loved those commercials

Wow! That guy could sell a freezer to an Eskimo!

Once and a while I would watch those infomercials just to see his enthusiasm. Sad to see him go.

how tragic, really enjoyed his enthusiasm for selling products. You know he actually had an infomercial on some type of scratch removers for cars.

I was shocked, too, when I heard the news. He had made a statement to the media afterwards basically stating that it was a hard landing and that everything starting falling down (I'm assuming he was referring to the luggage). He stated he took a hard hit to the head but that he was ok because he has a hard head. He died that night in his sleep. Sad to see him go at the top of his game.

I did not see that one coming! Billy was the man! He was the only thing I liked about commercial breaks. I'm going to miss him.

I loved Billy Mayes, that's so sad. Infomercials won't be the same without him!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                  I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                  Remove swirls my friends.

After watching Pitchmen I really started to like the guy. He was funny and seemed like a good guy. Really a shame.

It is sad. He was younger then me. I remember him back when Home Shopping just started. He was pitching a product back then. Look at how far he came.

He was only back in town this time to get Hip surgery. It was scheduled for today.

I hate this, in a time of depressing news, his commercials were so uplifting. And the show was very interesting, he was so full of life and energy, it was amazing to watch. I'll miss the smile and beard.

I agree. Love Pitchmen. Wonder what they are going to do with the show now. Sad after the others too.
