  • Somebody took my concept and ran with it!

Detail your own car with our rental equipment - $25

    Tools4Rent

is a new sort of tool rental company - focused on the consumer, not the contractor.

Here's an interesting idea: some of our tools and equipment come to you assembled in kits that include most things you might need to do these jobs:

    Detailing
    Undercar work
    Underhood work
    Electrical testing

For example, the detailing kit includes a small pressure washer, brushes, buffer/polisher with WOOL bonnets, extension cord, microfiber cloths, washer detergent, wax, and more. And, each rental day is on the calendar, not the clock. That means you can rent our equipment at any time on day one, and if it is returned by 6PM the following day you are charged for ONE rental day. How many cars can you detail in that amount of time?

We're at the Convoy exit from Hwy 52 - in the Shell station. You should call first to ensure that what you need is available: 858-222-xxxx.

CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS AND CHECKS ONLY - NO CASH!

I was just discussing this idea with Maserati Mario at the last TNOG. Only my idea also would have provided carport type bays or single car garage units for one day DIY detailing.

Don't forget to have 'em sign a liability waiver!

Might be even cooler if there was like a site to do it at, like the con-op wash places. Probably wouldnt get enough business to afford all that though.

You could still go ahead with your idea.

I like Murr's added twist to it. Maybe a whole do it yourself center. Interesting idea.

These guys are not thinking. I would market it like this:
            • Covered work area. Reserve a space ahead of time. All work bays have lighting, power outlets, benches and work carts.
            • Tools, polishes, pads for day rent or purchase - much like the package being promoted in the ad.
            • A policy offer to reimburse part of the package fee if an amateur decides he's in too deep and wants a pro to correct his mistakes. The client would be allowed to watch the pro work, ask questions, and get some hands-on under the pro's supervision. In short, a one-on-one, mini-detailing 101 class.

Except their idea involves a lot less overhead.
