Re: michael jackson passes away at 50 years old

Michael Jackson dies and it’s 24/7 news coverage. Last week real American heroes die in Iraq and not a mention of them in the news!!!!!

    God Bless them.

I understand that Michael was a music icon and such, but the men and women fighting for our freedom risking their lives are the ones that should really be in the news

I'm actually rather sorry to see him go. Michael Jackson shaped my generation and his music was well liked by nearly everyone. He seemed like an interesting person and I always kind of wanted to meet him. What a tragic figure and a terrible way to go.

I liked MJ when I was growing up untill the "freakieness" started. Sad to see him fall from grace the way he did, but I don't feel sorry for how he fell.

Superior Shine is right. I don't know how many of y'all know, but a soldier was captured in Afgan yesterday. I spent most of the day trying to get info on what's going on there but I have to either wait for the MJ stuff to be over with or fish thru the MJ stuff on line.

Either way the man is dead, has been dead for week now, and will forever be dead. I deal with death on a regular basis and MJ is no more special then those who die around us.
For those who fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.

I didn't see SS's post. Thanks for bringing that up.I've been watching the news closely.

It makes me cringe when I hear of a capture out there.I can only pray and hope the boy gets rescued.

Underdawg, have you tried Reuters or BBC world news?

Re: michael jackson passes away at 50 years old

Just talked to a friend of mine and he just signed papers to get medicaly retired from the Air Force...(honarable discharge?) When he was in Iraq he was a patrol guy on the 50 cal and his hummer was hit by an ied. Luckily for him the good Lord was watching out for him as all of it didnt go off. He was the only one that took any damage. Tons of shrapnel in his leg and messed up his trigger hand pretty good. Some fingers he said he barely got to keep. When I talked to him when he came home without his guys he didnt care about how bad he was hurt but how long until he could go back to his men. He got a purple heart and many perks and the thing he always told me was that he hated it all.

After he had an interview with CNN about the incident he said he didnt understand why the concentration is on him. He hated that people payed so much attention to him and not the other guys out there. He has gotten tons better using a cane to walk now and working on flexibility back in his hand. Funny thing is he still shoots better than tons of guys (qualified for sharpshooter to go to sniper school but didnt wanna do it) and thought he was going to get to come to Texas and be a DI. Got approved to stay in and then the main medical board overrulled it and said it needed to be looked at more closely. Now he is leaving the Air Force which he hates to do, but he never finished his college degree and is stressing about that. He is married, has a little girl, and just had a little boy that isnt a year yet so I can only imagine how worried he is.

Its the drive and courage of men like this that should be on the news! These men will die for us and everyone just brushes it to the side like no big deal. I dont care if you support this war or not, we need to support our troops.

/rant sorry for the thread jack
