  • Keep an eye on your Chevy Bowtie

I was pretty angry when I noticed this last week:

The bowtie is all bubbled up in the lower right hand corner. I think too much water got under there. Not sure what was going on, its still under the bumper to bumper warranty ( 3yrs/36,000 miles) powertrain is five years/100,000 miles.

Its held together by double sided tape. The only thing I was worried about was how they would get it off without damaging the paint. Well I took it up to the dealership and the service manager was really nice about it and insured me that a new bowtie was in stock and that the paint would not be harmed in any way.

It turned out great, but they swirled the paint up a little bit trying to get the adhesive off. I think they wiped down the whole tailgate. because it is swirled out a little more than the rest of the truck. I havent really cleaned or polished the paint in 3 or 4 months so obviously I have light swirls. I have a G110 now and I plan on giving my truck a full detail and polishing session with M205 by the begininng of July.

    Heres the new bowtie:

That's funny you bring that up. Our medics newest chase truck has that same exact problem on the grill bowtie. It won't get replaced, especially after one of the medics ran over a very large rock and tore off the liner in the front drivers side wheel well......ooooooops!

It's a little late now, but how did it look with no emblem installed?
I think the solid color painted gate would look pretty good.

I peel all my emblems off and throw them out.

Did they give you a complimentary wash? You would cry if you saw how dealers wash cars...

I would have got the dealership to supply the new emblem only. Then I would have removed / replaced it myself.

It's not too hard to do yourself.

same thing is happening to both my moms and sisters HHR right now, I'll let them know they need to just stop by the dealer...that is very upsetting to know that they end up bubbling like that..

It's a shame that those logo's are already bubbling up at such an age.
Looks like the quality of these new ones isn't the same as for a few years ago.
That they are turning ugly after more then 10 years is ok, but at such an early stage is just embarrassing.
Let's hope your new bowtie will last longer.

yea i also take everything off the body of my cars. my blazer i took everything off door molding and the things on the hatch. it gives the car alot cleaner look and dont have to worry about stuff like that. it also can be better for the body. water dirt and other **** cant sit there. when i pulled the door trim on my blazer off it was all sand behind it.
