  • Reese's Pieces

I was eating a mini bag of Reese's Pieces and I looked on the back where the ingredients are, and sure enough this is a Car Guy Snack!! It has Carnauba Wax in it!! Just though I would share that.

I believe they coat them with a small edible layer to give the candy its shine.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

      I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
      Remove swirls my friends.

Actually Carfire is correct, Reese's Peices do contain carnuba wax as do plenty other foods. They use it for many different reasons, and it's not just limited to the food. It's also used in shoe/boot polish, cosmetics, deoderants, medicines, tobacco products......and so on.

I knew what he meant, I just thought it was kinda funny. From wikipedia:

Carnauba wax can produce a glossy finish and as such is used in automobile waxes, shoe polishes, food products such as candy corn, instrument polishes, and floor and furniture waxes and polishes, especially when mixed with beeswax and with turpentine. It is used as a coating on dental floss. Use for paper coatings is the most common application in the United States. It is the main ingredient in surfboard wax, combined with coconut oil.
Because of its hypoallergenic and emollient properties as well as its shine, carnauba wax appears as an ingredient in many cosmetics formulas where it is used to thicken lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, eye shadow, foundation, deodorant, various skin care preparations, sun care preparations, etc.

That was my first job out of college. Back then each one was buffed by hand. Don't even get me started about the ones that had swirls. Do you have any idea how hard it is to buff that candy shell with out it melting.

They're the same size as M&Ms, but they taste like peanut butter cups.
