Just out of curiosity, regardless of what everybody thinks of this shopkeeper. Has anyone tried any of those particular products? If so,what were they like?

Re: If you're gonna fight, fight fair

I can see why he disabled the comments on youtube. When you put up a quick detailer against something like ColorX or the NXT spray wax people are going to raise an eyebrow and let you know about!

The product would go a bit farther if you actually put it up to something comparable to what your demonstrating, a little fact finding will go a long way and capturing the results in a better light would give would be customers a better idea of what you are after.

Anyways I wish this guy the best of luck!

Re: If you're gonna fight, fight fair

Here are a few more videos with this guy:

I think he sells his product using the power of suggestion. He talks up the Production product and then asks the person which one is better, so that they'll say the Production product and he'll have "proved" it. However, when he compares his product to the Simple Green product and Color X, he didn't really seem to convince them that his product was better, yet he acted like they had agreed with him fully. I couldn't tell a bit of difference between his product and any of the products he put it against. Notice he did most of his work in the shade and on dirty cars. I don't think he knows what he's doing. He didn't take the tags off his brand new microfibers either. There are a couple of comments under the Simple Green video and the Color X video, but they're from a year ago. I'll let you read them for yourself.

Well, it kinda streaked only because he didn't remove all of the product. Then he told the guy, "See all the streaks and swirls on the Meguiar's side?" This guy really needs to learn about proper car care and all the different products involved. If you were to take him seriously, he makes it seem that you can wash, clay, clean, polish, wax, and quick detail all with one product. Funny funny funny!

Re: If you're gonna fight, fight fair

Some problems I had with the video:
                      (1) He does not know what a polish is, I don't think. He says in one video that his product is a quik detailer spray, more or less, yet he refers to it over and over again as a "polish". Using this faulty premise he is then testing it against a true polish (Deep Crystal), a synthetic detailer spray (Utlimate Quik Detailer), a polish-wax (Color-X), a stainless-steel cleaning solution (Simple Green), a synthetic spray wax (NXT Tech Wax) and a cleaner wax (Blue Coral). None of these products are comparable in any way, period.

                      (2) All these cars are filthy. He's rubbing dust and grit into the finish and in a few instances waxing ground-in grit onto the paint.

                      (3) He does not allow any of the products he uses to properly dry, he sprays them on and wipes them off. Follow the directions!! :facepalm

                      (4) He doesn't test how the water beads on either surfaces.

                      (5) We don't know how well/badly the surface was prepped (evidently not very well considering how dirty the cars are). I doubt the cars were clayed recently, if ever. The detailers they brought it to were hacks, they used glass cleaner to wipe down the car's paint.

                      (6) The camera does not accurately convey all the attributes we, as detailers, look for in a paint surface. I can't see how shiny it really is on camera, I can't feel the surface consistency, I can't see swirls and I can't really gauge reflectivity. The quality of a surface is objective, some people like a more natural shine than others (hence the huge number of products available from Meg's and other manufacturers).

                      (7) He doesn't even name the product. What kind of person shamelessly plugs a product like this guy without naming it and receptively encouraging viewers to purchase it?

                      (8) We don't know what kind of abrasives it uses, how aggressive it is or how much it costs; why would we buy it? Is it abrasive at all? Is it just a QD?

                      (9) Why doesn't he try to do the "Pepsi Challenge" with Mother's products too? Or Sonus? Or Klasse? Or Zymol? Or Turtle Wax? etc...

                      (10) The detailers they brought it to were hacks, they used glass cleaner to wipe down the car's paint, why would I trust their opinions.

(I'm not bashing anything, I'm just making logical inferences based on the information provided in these videos. )

Re: If you're gonna fight, fight fair

Phil seems to like to compare his products to Adam's products to. I don't have a problem with him comparing his product to others, it is just the arrogant way in which he does it.

I saw a video two years ago or so where Barry Meguiar and a chemist were comparing the protection of Meguiar's sealants and a competitor's product and Meguiars won easily and Barry mentioned how frustrating it is because he said this competitor is always bashing Meguiars and talking about how much better it is than Meguiars. I wonder if the competitor's product was production?

Those are the worst videos I have seen in a long time. His brother in law must have been the camera operator. He sure is in love with the zoom control.

Ciera, most of it is sales tactics. If you make someone else look bad then you look good. Also remember the target audienceis the average joe who is not into detailing and just wants to protect/shine his car.

Well, that would be the case most of the time. Except in his case, when he tried to make Meguiar's look bad then he looked stupid.
