Good Paint Shops?

Hi guys, I need to get my hood and front bumper repainted.

Anyone know of any good places near Gilbert, Arizona?

I'm thinking of going to Maaco since they're a big name, which means they should warrant their work. Unless anyone has any better recommendations.

PS: What sort of extra services should I also request? I'm thinking of asking them to do a thicker clear coat layer so I can get rid of scratches in the future with less worry.

Also, wouldn't a softer paint be better for the front of the car for rock chips? Car bras are soft so the rock's don't chip them, shouldn't the same idea apply to paint? Softer paint chips harder? Thanks

Find out who's paint system the shop is using. There are a lot of low end paints that a good painter can make look great but do not hold up.

Ask for at least 5 previous customers names and numbers and call them.

I called yesterday (Tuesday) and spoke to Francine, she suggested I talk with Mike, Joe's brother, since he knew a lot about the paints and I had a lot of questions.

Unfortunately he was sick, so she suggested I email/call today and see if he's in. If he is I'll stop by today after 3 PM.

If he's sick again, I guess I can come by when you go to pick up your vette, haha

Mine was the red vert getting the harmonic balancer replaced, the pulley walked off the balancer...
New underdrive installed and it's home tonight. I already went out and gave it a hug after being gone all week!

I got a call from Joe with the quote for the front bumper, hood, blending and the side rocker panel. It's a bit more than I was hoping so I called them back for more details. I might have to skip the rocker panel...

Thanks for the compliment, my vette is home now, all fixed and running better with an underdrive...

They do great paint work, my daughters red F150 was keyed, we took it to Classic Gold and Joe and the gang repaired that side of the truck.
Now 3 years later and you still can't see a difference in the paint...
