Re: Anybody here have back pain problems??

Back pain is awful. I remember one morning waking up and not being able to move. Physical therapy eventually helped after several months. Watch our for the steroids. It brings relief, but it destroys the muscles. Chiropractic did not help me.

I do. I have had problems since I was 16 years old. I have been on worker's compensation 3 times and disability 2 times (the last one was permanent, until I went to the company's own evaluation doctor, 10 minutes later and I was 100% fine. The doctor I had been seeing for 4 years apparently got it all wrong.) before I was 20 years old. Stretch, stretch, stretch! I get pain when I work at about shoulder height or above. My neck cramps up every now and then... Stretching really helps.

Re: Anybody here have back pain problems??

Im only 22 and my back hurts a fair good amount. Ive learned to just deal with it and not let it get in the way. If I sleep certain ways it will be pretty sore when I wake up but detailing and the like really tears it up in the evening. Typically it wont hurt during daily routines so Im not stressed about it.

I gotta say, after a long day of detailing it feels amazing to lay back against a stair. Weve got a step down into our living room and its amazing lay back on that for 10min or so..

My father has dealt with back problems his entire life but most of that is due to his earlier work habits. He currently has two herniated disks and has been on celebrex for some time now.

I am a chiropractor in Ohio and what CieraSL said is very true.

Detailing involves repetitive bending, working in stooped positions at times, holding your arms in front of your body, and repetitive arm and hand movements. These movements can get your vertebrae out of alignemt and can create tendinitis in your upper body. ( I know, i got tendinitis in my right elbow from trying to buff out my dad's Hyundai Santa Fe by hand!).

Chiropractic care,as well as regular exercise, and taking breaks can help keep your joints going.

Re: Anybody here have back pain problems??

I'll put in another good word for building a strong core; I've been visiting the chiropractor monthly for about 5 years now and for the last year I've been suffering with low back pain.
I joined a local gym 6 weeks ago and am seeing a trainer twice a week - after the physical/range of motion evaluation he structured a program to help slowly reduce my muscle imbalances and muscle tension and in the short time I've been seeing him I'm already getting results. As a plus, I'm learning the root cause(s) of my back pain and it's surprising how other areas of the body that you wouldn't think about can influence it...

The only thing that has ever bothered me was after a full day of detailing after not working in a long time I was sore, but nothing other than that.
Thanks a lot, John! Yes, I'm old, very, very old!

Re: Anybody here have back pain problems??

Well it depends on what is wrong with your back as to if any of the above will work.
I tried the chiropractor then the injections but nothing helped so I went to a spinal surgeon and got MRI.
June 5th I'm going to get my disc's replaced in my case all of the above info would do nothing but make it worse.
I doubt at your age you have that serious a problem but don't screw around with it see a doctor something is wrong find out what is causing the pain don't ignore it.

I too have lower back problems. From experience let me say NEVER NEVER let a chiropractor adjust your back without first getting Xrays and MRI done. My problem was re-occuring and many friends said a chiropractor will fix it. I took a copy of my MRI to a chiro. and had him read it first. He said it was a good thing I did. An adjustment most likely would have left me crippled. Find out what's causing the problem FIRST!

A good chiropractor willl do a thorough orthopedic and neurologic exam as well as evaluate imaging (x_rays, MRI, CT) before doing any hands on work.
