  • Cleaned out my storage shed and found a 12v Makita Polisher!

I bought this little beauty wayyyy back in 1993 just after I purchased my new Civic. The model name is the Makita WaxMate 9200Y. Weight is probably right around a pound. I remember it did a nice job of applying and removing wax, but I couldn't use it for anything else (hey, it was 1993. I'm not even sure claying was around then). I remember the Waxmate cost around $30 and came with small foam pads. I'm guessing the circumference to be around 5".

Even has a loop and hook backing plate which allows me to use it with Meguiars Soft Buff pads!

Wax spreader, nothing more. Power source is 12v via the cigarette lighter. The WaxMate oscillates only, there is no rotation. But at least now I can claim to own a Makita polisher!

LOL I have the same tool. My brother got it as a Christmas gift in1992. For some reason he never used it and its still in the original box in my parents garage.

Haha that's a funny lookin little thing

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

            I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
            Remove swirls my friends.

Moved out of Blast from the Past forum and into The Break Room forum.

The Blast from the Past forum is for old Meguiar's products...

                That's awesome - I want one!!!

You should bring it to the next Open Garage so we can all play with it!

N/P. It's been in my trunk since I found it. I'll bust it out and we can use it on one of Bob's mini-English cars!
