I have been thinking of changing from Sprint to Nextel. Anyone out there have any thoughts on that pros/cons? More and more people I know have Nextel both at work and not, I think it would would make it very convenient. Right now I need to atleast upgrade my sprint plan for more time (I keep going over) but why not change to Nextel?

Haha well this is my first post here. Im always reading up but I thought I would chime in here cause Im actually trying to find someone to take over my contract. There is a little over a year left on the contract. It is the National 1000 which includes:
1000 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited Direct Connect
Unlimited Nights and Weekends
Free Voicemail
Free CallerID
Free 3-way calling
All for 54.99 a month (if you work for the goverment you get 10% your plan a month also).
I just need to get rid of this cause Im going to be soon moving and Nextel doesnt have good coverage there. I also have the Nextel I830 silver flip phone (very cool) that I will sell for only 100 bucks if you take over the contract.
Nextel was awesome with me and very cool to beep your buddies. If you are interested let me know man.

sprint vs. nextel
I have been with sprint for about ten years now and really have no complaints. I have nextel for work and in some areas it doesn't work. And don't forget, sprint is going to have direct connect soon too. My phone is ready for it. Most of the new phones that sprint sells have it. Just weigh your options; If most of your freinds have nextel, go with nextel, if not, go with sprint. Just my opinion.

Can I jump in here from left field??
I have been very very happy with my ATT cell phones. Heck I have 4 accounts now, 3 of them I pay for, (wife and 2 kids) the other one is company paid.
Very good coverage, and decent plans. but this is from Arizona though, you may be better with whoever is bigger where you live.Arizona Corvette Enthusiasts

Just an update for anyone else who might be thinking about a change....
I just changed to Nextel (from Sprint pcs) couldn't be happier! I had my number ported to Nextel and it went with out a problem and only took 12 hours. I bought the I730, VERY good call quality and plenty of features. Sprint is still a good company I just needed the direct connect feature for work to save on minutes. Got a good rate plan from work to go with it.Brandon

I had Nextel for 6 years and my wife has Sprint. My coverage is much better then hers and we live in a big city. I tired a few other cell carriers such as Verizon, Cingular, Cell One and they did not even do what Nextel can do. Nextel is a kinda expensive. I basically had to go to the $200.00 a month plan where I get unlimited outgoing, incoming, direct connect. I use my phone for everything. I believe Sprint is second best carrier. When the 2 complete the merge I think the system will ROCK! Sprints internet on the phone is MUCH better then Nextels. Another thing was my wife got hers before we were married and her credit is not so good. She qualified for a phone but they never told her it would cap out. She ran over her minutes and when the bill totaled $80.00 it was no longer useable until she made a payment to bring it below $80. That was NEVER told to her at the Sprint store at the time. After her year contract was up and we got married I ended up putting it under my name where my credit is much better. I was going to get her a Nextel but I dont need her to bug me 24/7 on the Direct Connect. Nextels phones are nice, but expensive. They work real well.. I recommend a I830 ir I860. I have the i860 camera phone and its the BEST camera phone I have EVER see/used. At 0.3MP its pretty good quality. Just becareful with Sprint. Check on the credit issue is you have credit problems, so you dont get screwed by them. Who knows by now, they might have fixed that or maybe our dealer was not good enough to notify us.

I can't wait till sprint and nextel merge, I think its a good thing! Take the best of the two networks.
You know I have already fell in love with the "two way" feature... Acctually I think sprint has the more advanced "two-way" its just no one uses it might be real good for nextel users in the future.Brandon

By the time the transfer is complete your two weeks are up. That's right, Sprint is buying out Nextel. So may as well wait. Good luck.Brandon
