Which one???

Playing with Photoshop to create a watermark for my pictures, and unsure about which on looks better.

Option 1-Black and White...



Option 2-Color



Don't pay attention to the red van in the background. Just normal pictures with the logo as a watermark.

I like the first one (black and white). With that one no matter what color vehicle is in the picture it will blend in nicely.

Nick, I really like the colored one over the translucent black/white logo. But then again I'm thinking of it as a "logo" and not a watermark. A watermark really should be totally colorless and translucent so that it never gets lost or washed out by the background.

For example let's say you do a close up shot of a red car's finish...what then? How much of your watermark would look washed out or hard to discern details in? The translucent watermark always gives just enough of a "ghosted" appearance to copyright your work but not intrude on the image.

Like them both just think the clear black/white logo is most appropriate...

You would probably want the red for something you were advertising, but the white when just showing off your work online, etc.

Nick I like the transparent one and most watermarks are transparent too.

I think that if you did a colored watermark that it would draw more attention to the watermark, but that is what you actually probably don't want. The point of the picture is to show the amazing work that you can do, not to have the focus on your watermark. With the transparent one, they are able to focus on your work and still see it when they realize they want to use your services. just my two cents

Okay, how did you do that?

Seriously, a watermark is useless if you can remove it just like that. How did you do that? How can I fix it so you can't remove it?

That one was easy. Just used the lasso tool to copy a section of grass, copy and paste it over your logo. Different backgrounds will have a different levels of difficulty, but I wanted to illustrate how people could still steal your photos if they wanted to. To me a watermark should be over the image or part of the image making it more difficult, but still possible for Photoshop 'ers to do it if they want to. Like a burglar alarm for your house...smart thieves know how.

I would make it more transparent and larger and put it over the entire photo. Just my opinion. Not trying to step on Executionerhk's toes. Great tutorial he gave you!

But if I put it over the entire picture, or on the vehicle itself, that ruins the picture. Guess I'll just take my chances.
