  • Term Paper

Well I'm just getting distracted but it is 1:21 in the morning and I'm have 1.5 pages done of 7 pages needed for my paper on the Mayan Culture's Resilience due tomorrow... I really just want to go to sleep....actually I really just don't want to do this paper considering I don't plan on doing anything in my career with the Mayan culture ugh

    back to work

Been there and done that. I cant tell you how many sleepless nights I had when I was working on my engineering degree. Just keep on pushing and I promise it will pay off.

      Engineering ftw!

What type of engineer are you? How many years in until you got the Corvette?

I feel your pain Andrew. My best advice is to set short term goals (ie pick a time 30 mins away and tell yourself no visiting MOL etc until you have 1 full page done) or something like that. It's easy to get overwhelmed with a large 5+ page paper and end up stalling and doing nothing.

Break it into smaller, more manageable chunks.

Good luck, and get to work...the clock is ticking! (PS, showers and energy drinks are your friend)

Thanks Mark, I'm at 4.5 now, I'm not really sweating it now. Fourth floor of the library, backpack full of Red Bull. I'm kinda used to it after these past two weeks being loaded with final projects. Well no more MOL for me until ... lets see I'll give myself an hour and a half - 3:30

EDIT: Done at 3:10, going to sleep and revising it at 8:30am

I have no sympathy. Try doing a Doctorate dissertation. 7 pages is easy and besides that you waited until the last moment.

BlueZero, I'm industrial and systems engineering with a computer science minor.

drculinarian, I'm sure it is nothing like doing a Doctoral Dissertation (well obviously haha). It really wasn't that hard, the post was more of a me getting distracted thing and venting on how writing a paper on the Mayans really doesn't matter too much to me. I would have started earlier had it not been for my computer science class. If you are familiar at all with C++ coding, there are times where you can reach errors syntactically and logically in your code that can have you stalled for days after writing the code until you can finally get it to compile and run properly.

Well time to go grab a bite to eat and revise!

I hear you. Actually I know a little bit about c++, my son was into video game programing. Sometimes the subjects we don't care that much about come back to bite us.
Have you gotten into artificial inteligence yet. My son liked this part the most

That's a few classes away, I believe I have to take a course that is based purely on AI, sounds like it will be cool
