  • Rust repair?

Here is the deal...I have a 1962 Buick Electra that I have owned for about 14 years now. Because I enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly after buying it the car ended up spending about 7 out of the first 8 years I owned it in storage. It had some rust when I bought it, but the rust got worse while in storage. Now, I think I am at a point where I can do something about it. So, I am looking for anybody that has a body man in the San Diego/Orange County area that they can recommend. I know there are a bunch of guys here from SoCal, so I am hoping one of you knows someone that they would recommend.

    Thanks!

btw...here is a pic of the car from when I had it shipped out here from MN.

    Re: Rust repair?

I've been using Loctite Extend® Rust Converter (Neutralizer) on a '70 GMC motor home restoration that site at the beach and the western face is rusted and needs extra protection. Forms a seal of sorts from the rust itself
    It works great.
Make sure the shop use something like this. Or just have them remove it all for a pretty penny.

    Rust Treatments
    Extend® Rust Converter (Neutralizer)

    Where to Buy
    Back to Rust Treatments

Spray or paint on the surface

Most effective on mild surface rust

Interacts with existing rust and chemically converts it to a neutral black surface, which also serves as a primer

    Follow-up with a coat of oil-based or lacquer-based paint

    01-81138 - 8 oz. Bottle
    01-81847 - 10.25 oz. Aerosol

Thanks. I will keep that stuff in mind for some of the areas that aren't too bad. I still will need a body man because I have a couple of places in the trunk where it is rusted through.
