    Re: Car is at Maaco

Yeah, there was a $75 charge for the mirrors and posts/trim around windows(!)--but the rest of the car was in blue. I'm pretty sure I'll just get the money back and do it myself since they didn't. I was out of town and my sons picked the car up for me so I didn't get to talk to the shop about it then.

    Thanks for all the help!

I knew a guy that bought a old Buick Riveara that had a Macco paint job on it. He had it wet sanded and buffed and it came out great. It must of cost him more for the wet sanding and buff then it cost for the paint job.

Interesting, bet you could do it yourself, even if you do just one panel at a time all by hand

Not all Maacos are bad.. you get what you pay for. If you just want a scratch n shoot you can get it there but you will have some overspray around moldings and door handles. I've had them paint a few cars for me in base/clear and they did a marvelous job. I did take the door handles, moldings, lights etc. off before they got it though.

I do not see why not. Back in the 70's a good friend of mine hand painted his challenger with a brush. No joke. Then another friends dad used a rotary on it. It was the best looking paint job around. The car looked great.
