Blocking shouldn't be allowed, at least not when your going over +150 mph. The Fences did their job to keep the car pretty contained within the race track(8 fans did suffer injuries from the incident). A Fencing update due for next race?
Hey... How about Mr. Mark Martin's WIN, last week. I was so jazzed for him!
Personally I hated the race. When you have a track that needs restrictor plates and routinely takes out many of the top drivers with "big ones" it sure isn't about driving skill. I'd rather they take the banking out of the track to slow it down rather than resorting to restrictor plates and forcing bump drafting at 200 mph. Like Edwards said, someone will be killed before NASCAR does something about these tracks.
Consider how close that car came to going through the fence into the fans. Luckily there were no deaths Sunday. As it was, two fans were airlifted to the hospital, one with a broken jaw.
Restrictor plate racing at these long tracks is not my idea of good racing.

Loved the Mark Martin win! Been a fan for years.
If they are going to have blocking they should let them go below the yellow line which would have resulted in someone sliding through the infield and probably not up into the fence...maybe. Edwards should have not tried to block the second time, but I understand him wanting to win and protect his position. Drivers should have learned by now what bump drafting and blocking at these speeds causes and just stop doing it which would reduce the excitement level, make the racing/win boring and there would be rule changes without the need for crashes as an incentive. Hit Nascar in the pocketbook!
Never have liked restrictor plates, but Nascar had to do something about the technological advances in engine design that increased the speeds too high. Flattening out the track would not reduce crashes. Restrictor plates would still be used on big tracks, cause bunching up and I think there would be more crashes, in the turns especially.
Let's face it, it's all about excitement for the fans and close racing is exciting, but I'm sure there will be more rule changes now and rightly so. Never want fans to get injured. Drivers know the risks and the adrenaline rush it gives them. If Edwards would have won (and not crashed causing debris in the stands with injuries) there would not be the controversy and talk of rule changes...yet. That's how motorsports rule changes evolve, from bad crashes and sometimes injuries. Changing the rules before hand is often considered "meddling" on the part of the sanctioning body.
Just my opinions.

Reason: addition
Since Edwards is from Mizzou, I was kinda disappointed with the outcome. What an exciting outcome!!!! I am also glad that the injuries were not anymore sever than what they where. Anyone getting injured at a race is unexceptable, expecially when it involves spectators.
As Carl said in the post-race, "it's the box that Nascar has put us in" with respect to the restrictor plate, the slingshot pass and ultimately the blocking.
I'm sure Carl had a feeling that Keselowski was probably inside of him, but instinct says "block"
The thing that concerns me a little bit is how easily his car along with Kenseth's in the Nationwide race got airborne. In both cases it appeared to me that the roof flaps didn't react in time.
Oh, and there ain't no amount of Meguiar's gonna make that car look good again
After lap 8 I stopped watching it. Almost all of my drivers were taken out including Mark so that was that.
With 5 laps to go I started watching it again and of course carl(another fav) had to wreck him self and some no name won it. Dude had never finished above 19th and will probably never win again, but thats ok I guess... Kinda wanted Jr to win it...

I've changed the channel so many times after Mark has had bad luck over the years.
I started watching with 8 to go. I've also been a Roush fan for many years, but ever since Cousin' Carl acted like he was going to punch Matt Kenseth on national television awhile back I have no respect for him and root against him every week. I would like to see Mark win a championship before he retires permanently. He deserves it.
I'm kinda sick of NASCAR, it's pretty much the same thing every week, and as I saw posted somewhere else, it's the only racing series where the driver in front is responsible for a wreck happening, vs the guy trying to do the passing
