        Re: Alright, some Flex feedback...

I'll get some pictures of it up later on tonight or tomorrow. I'm sure someone out there also has this handle, as it was standard with the original Flex machines. Sadly, they stoped including these handles, and went strickly with the bail type handle that are on every Flex now a days.

If someone else doesn't post up a picture, I'll get one tonight or tomorrow. But it looks exactly like the handle for the G100(not the G110). It just has some rubber bushings in it to help ease the vibrations.

If that makita hand works on the Flex, it can be ordered here for 2 dollars and change.

If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

Yep, looks just like the Makita handle, except there is a rubber bushing in there to absorb some vibration. Works like a champ!

                Re: Alright, some Flex feedback...

Hey Nick, does this mean the side handle works better because you tilt the polisher a little more easily than with the bail handle? Or is it just easier and less tiring to hold the pad flat? Or both?

I find myself holding my rotary by the housing more than the handle to keep the pad flat and apply more pressure. Maybe I need to change that habit, tilt a little more and use less pressure? It gets pretty warm holding it that way too!

Here's the link to Flex. They still offer the side handle with a L 3403 VRG set. I wrote and asked them about getting a side handle for my new XC 3401 VRG.

                  Re: Handle for Flex

I found that the handle off a Porter Cable DA will work, but it's hard plastic and so are replacement handles for it, although they have grooves instead of a smooth slippery surface like mine. I did install it and I see what Nick means about the feeling of having better control.

I also found the side handle for the Flex, but it's pricey at $17.95 plus shipping. Haven't decided yet to purchase it and the supplier has only one in stock, but more on the way he said.

Anyone near Clearwater that might want one so we can order more than one and split UPS shipping?

If I decide not to get it I'll post the suppler link so someone else can buy the last one in stock.

                    Re: Alright, some Flex feedback...

The side handle doesn't do anything that I know of, aside from just feeling better to me. As I said before, with the bail type handle that comes with the unit, I found myself trying to apply more pressure than needed(subconsiously), and that in turned upset the Flex machine and it ended up bouncing around. With the side handle, it gives me a bit more leverage, and I really don't push down as hard(subconciously). The machine just moves along a lot smoother, and in turn less tiring on myself. Kind of forces you to choose different products/pads, as you're not really applying pressure. So a more aggressive product/pad choice is required. But with less pressure, there is less marring with the more aggressive products.

Just my observation, I'm sure others with hate the handle, but I love it
