  • International detailing association

All you professional detailers are encouraged to join the INTERNATIONAL DETAILING ASSOCIATION.

The dues are only $50 for a year for an operator, and you will get far more than that in value.

Go to the-ida.com and view the many pages of the site and learn who and what the IDA is and what it can do for you and for the detail industry.

Questions? Please reply to this thread.

    Regards
    Marnie Joseph

    Re: International detailing association

    Welcome to MOL Marnie.

I edited out the click-able links as we have a forum-wide policy that disallows links or direct e-mail addresses until members reach 30 posts. If you would like to talk about your association with members, please have the discussion here in this thread or via Private Message through the forum.

    Thank you,

    Mark Kleis

      Re: International detailing association

      Hey Mark, and other mods.

Can we bend the rules for this? I am interested in this association, and always have been. But anytime I've asked questions, they've always gone unanswered. Would like to know more about them before I go dropping $50 a year. I know it's not a lot of cash, but I can be frugal sometimes

Find out how, specifically, being a member will benefit you.

I've been a member since December. I did get a discount on admission to this years MTE.

Everytime I've asked them questions, I never get a response. Really interested in joining, but if you guys can't ever respond to me with answers to my questions, then ????

                  Re: International detailing association

If the member doesn't come back and answer your questions then that might be a good indicator as to whether to join or not based upon customer service.

Joining a forum just to post one time is called "Hit & Run" posting/spamming. If this organization is legit and they really have a beneficial service to offer people then a part of their plan to post their offer on forums would include to do follow-up posting to every thread they start on every forum they post to. If there is no plan to ever follow-up to replies like yours then this would be spamming.

We hope to see Marnie Joseph return and answer your questions.

The Internet world of detailing discussion forums is a small world and it doesn't take much to make or break a person's or a company's credibility.

                    Re: International detailing association

I wanted to join a couple of years ago at te suggestion of Joe. Hit their site, and sent several emails over time asking questions. I never once got any kind of response.
I am really all for a detailing association, but I want to know what my $50 gives me. They have claimed that I would get more than $50 in value, but I have yet to hear what exactly I would recieve, or how I would get that $50 in value.

If they can't even take the time to respond to my personal emails, or this public thread that they started, then I'm not so sure I should pony up the $50.

Nick the IDA is a new association. If you emailed somebody years ago it wasn't the IDA.

The IDA is less than a year old.

Hmmm, it was a detailing association that you referred me to a while ago. Not sure who it was now.

Here's another "Hit & Run" post promoting IDA

IDA to conduct seminars at Car Care World Expo

This thread is not a "Hit & Run", but does tie the IDA to the Mobile Tech Expo in Clearwater, Florida on January 15, 2009.

                              Re: International detailing association

                              GENTLEMEN:

FORGIVE THE DELINQUENCY IN ANSWERING YOUR POSTS. DO NOT GO TO THE MEGUIAR'S FORUM DAILY.

FIRST OF ALL, THOSE OF YOU WHO INDICATE YOU HAVE CONTACTED THE INTERNATIONAL DETAILING ASSOCIATION AND NOT RECEIVED A REPLY ARE MISTAKING THE IDA WITH THE NAPDR, WHICH HAS BEEN FORMED FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS. THAT HAS BEEN A CONSTANT CRITICISM OF THAT ORGANIZATION, ESPECIALLY IN RECENT MONTHS. HOWEVER, THAT IS ALL I KNOW ABOUT THEM.

ANYONE WHO CONTACTS THE IDA (info@the-ida.com) OR IF YOU CONTACT US VIA OUR WEBSITE, IS IMMEDIATELY REPLIED TO WITH ONE DAY. I BELIEVE IF YOU CHECK YOUR EMAILS YOU WILL SEE THAT IT WAS THE NAPDR THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

WHEN YOU SAY YOU CONTACTED US TWO YEARS AGO I KNOW IT CANNOT BE THE IDA AS WE HAVE NOT BEEN FORMED THAT LONG.

MR HERNANDEZ, YOU JOINED THE IDA RIGHT BEFORE THE MTE AND AS AN IDA MEMBER YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN "FREE" ADMISSION TO THE DETAILING SEMINARS AND TO THE MTE FLOOR. WHAT WERE EXPECTING?

THE IDA IS A FORMALLY REGISTRED NON-PROFIT CORPORATION THAT HAS PUBLISHED BYLAWS A DULY ELECTED BOARD OF DIRECTORS WHO SERVE FOR NO MORE THAN 3 YEARS AND A SLATE OF OFFICERS WHO SERVE FOR ONLY ONE YEAR.

IT IS NOT A "GOOD OLD BOYS" CLUB CONTROLLED BY A FEW.

THE MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS ARE GROWING, BUT TO OFFER MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS REQUIRES MONEY AND THE ONLY SOURCE OF INCOME THE IDA HAS AT THIS TIME IS MEMBERSHIP WHICH IS GROWING.

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF BENEFITS THAT WE ARE ALREADY OFFERING, AND THE LIST IS GROWING.

THE KEY TO AN INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION IS THAT THOSE WHO JOIN SEE A BENEFIT AND ARE WILLING TO GIVE BACK TO THE INDUSTRY OF WHICH THEY ARE A PART. IF A PERSON DOES NOT SEE ANY BENEFIT TO AN INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION THEN THEY REALLY SHOULD NOT JOIN. IT IS NOT UP TO THE ASSOCIATION TO TRY AND CONVINCE DETAILERS WHY THEY SHOULD BELONG TO THE IDA, ALL THE ASSOCIATION CAN DO IS LET POTENTIAL MEMBERS KNOW WHAT IS AVAILABLE AND IF THEY WANT TO JOIN THEN CERTAINLY THEY SHOULD. IF THEY DO NOT, THEN CERTAINLY DO NOT JOIN.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PERTAINING TO THE IDA I SUGGEST YOU GO TO THE SITE the-ida.com [Edit: Clickable link removed per our forum rules. -Mike Phillips] AND CONTACT SOME OF THE EXISTING MEMBERS SUCH AS PRESIDENT, ERIK JEFFRIES OF CYCLO TOOL; ANTHONY FLAMMIA OF GIAS DETAILING IN LONG ISLAND OR PRENTICE ST CLAIR OF DETAIL IN PROGRESS IN SAN DIEGO. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU CONTACT JOSE HERNANDEZ OF SUPERIOR DETAILING IN SOCAL, BUT HE SEEMS TO NOT BE SURE WHY HE JOINED.

THE IDA IS AN OPEN AND VERY TRANSPARENT ASSOCIATION AND ALL ONE HAS TO DO IS MAKE CONTACT AND ASK QUESTIONS AND THEY WILL BE ANSWERED OPENLY AND TRUTHFULLY.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR POSTS AND AGAIN I APOLOGIZE THAT I DID NOT ANSWER THE POSTS BEFORE NOW.

                              REGARDS
