  • Wheel Wax?

I was telling a friend of mine about Wheel Wax since we both have cars that cover the front wheels with brake dust after a few miles. We went looking for it at the usual autoparts stores, and the ones in his area said they had a hard time selling it, and quit carrying it. I looked in my area, and the places I've bought it before didn't have a place for it on the shelves. Does anyone else use it and have a hard time finding it now?

      Re: Wheel Wax?

There's a pretty long thread on this forum about wheel waxes, you might try doing a search to see if you can find it.

Just to note the problems with wheel wax is lack of longevity in that excessive heat from the brakes and repeated exposure to wheel cleaners tends to wear it off quicker than most people want.

I have one set of black painted wheels that I have yet to wax but when I do wax them I'll probably just use NXT Tech Wax.

Thanks Mike, I'll have to try that.

I really like to have a basecoat of NXT 2.0 on my wheels and after each wash i maintain them with Ultimate Quik Wax

Wheel Wax is rediculous to remove. NXT 2.0/M21 works just as good.

I use either M21 or M26 on my wheels.

No experience with it as I just saw it for the first time, but Eagle One has a spray-on wheel protector which is supposed to repel brake dust for up to 2 weeks. Saw it Autozone tonight.

I just wax mine with whatever wax I'm trying to use up. Whatever I've bought over the years and not really liked.

I use the paste carnuba cleaner wax. I work the wax onto the wheel with the heat from my hand. I find this method good for trying to reduce brake dust build up.

I use Obsessive Detail Wheel Seal. It is a synthetic sealant made for high heat applications. A little goes a long way, and it wipes off like nothing. Works well IMO. Cut my brake dust down between washings. Can be used on exhaust tips, polished metals, etc...

Is this new on the market?

Not really new? Justin has been making and selling his products for about 2 or 3 years now? His products have a pretty big following on a few forums since I threw that name out there. I have bought and use a few of his products, which have all performed on the same level as Meguiar's IMHO, I just don't think I can ever bring myself to not mainly use Meguiar's though.
