  • anybody here into kayak fishing?

I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on one of these.
Ocean Kayak® Prowler Big Game™ Angler Kayak

I have been debating whether to buy a small aluminum boat on craigslist and start building it or just to buy a nice fishing kayak.

I love fishing but I am kind of getting bored of inshore fishing, it's hard to find good spots, some places get packed, etc. With a kayak I can do some exercise and do what I like the most.

This model specifically attracted my attention, I weight like 225 lbs, so I am kind of a big guy . It seems to be like a little boat, very stable and lots of space for all my gear. I will really like to have one these when I travel to the FL keys. FL seems to be a great spot for a fishing kayak, except for the sharks , I already saw a couple of creepy videos on youtube.

Also that would be another toy to take care of.

    So any comments?

I am just trying to decided whether I should pull the trigger or not.

    Sounds like fun to me...

Nice and quiet, paddle into remote areas... just as long as you don't hook a lunker and have it pull you all over the place!

Looks pretty slick! As long as you won't be fishing with someone else. Looks like only a one seater.

I've been looking on and off at getting a canoe but never did.

      What are you fishing for?

LOL . At first I am certainly going to try to stay close to shore until I get more experience. I guess lakes are a good option. I know I am going to be catching some big fish as soon as I hit the saltwater around here.

I'd go for it. Looks like a decent Kayak. Especially the 600 lbs capacity, in case you catch the big one. I don't do fishing myself but I love Kayaking.
I'm looking at a new one from here possibly: http://www.rei.com/category/4500271/q/Kayaks

I still haven't been brave enough to take such a small boat into the ocean. Fine for small swells they say... small swells are much bigger than my boat!

That actually might be pretty entertaining.

That's awsome. Kayaking is certainly a great sport.

Good fishing kayaks are designed for saltwater and freshwater, it's completely safe with some common sense and basic experience. It all depends on the kayak you buy.
I have never been so much into this, now that I am doing my research I feel like I am buying a car. There are so many models, custom options, it's absolutely crazy. Honestly I am going nuts with this. I fell like a 10 year old thinking on a new toy

I am actually considering the Malibu X-factor now, which is a bit faster and better overall for saltwater fishing. I am kind of addicted to fishing so I really want to get a stable well built kayak without destroying the bank account. I am trying not to go with a model that I will regret down the road.

Now Malibu released the Stealth 14, it's more expensive but it's one of the "big boys" in the market right now. Sweet jesus I feel like ordering one right away .

I am still doing my research, trying to decide what to do or let's just say "looking for some more money" .
