  • One Fein Rotary

A few weeks ago, I picked up this little polisher...

Yup, it's the Fein WPO 12-27E! This thing is built like a tank, but it's very small. If you take the Porter Cable DA and lengthen it by about three inches, you have the Fein.

This rotary is great for swirl removal. Its small size makes it easy to use on doors and bumpers. But, I wish it had a bit more weight for compounding. The fantastic balance does help quite a bit.

The Fein doesn't have a trigger to control the speeds and the pickup is not gradual. If you've had plenty of rotary practice, it shouldn't be a problem. The speed dial is located at the back, just like the G110, 7336, etc. It starts at 900 rpm for speed one, but speed two is at 1500 rpm. However, the speed dial is fully adjustable. You can set it anywhere on the dial to adjust the speed. So, you can set it at 1.5 and buff at 1200 rpm.

Overall, I really like the machine. I just can't say enough about the build quality. The Makita is built very well, but this is an entirely new level. For light duty polishing, this is the rotary for the job. But, it does have two faults: no trigger and the price.

I hope to see it at the meeting. How is the weight compared to a DA?

Interesting. How about grip/handles/holding it? Looking at it I almost afraid it will fall out of my/your hands too easily...

I do like the compact nature of the device, though.

Yes, it has a stick style handle. It's a bit thinner than the Makita hand, but still comfortable.

I'll try and snap a pic sometime, but the overall size is similar to the G110.

Ebay, of course! I won't say the price, but it was less than the retail price.

I have a Fein wet/dry vacuum that I have used for the last nine years. I purchased for fine saw dust pickup and it just keeps on sucking. Really gets after dog hair in the car. Pricey - yes, worth it Oh yeah!
