Next time you have to take your car to the dealer, make a couple signs. DO NOT WASH THIS CAR IF YOU WANT MY BUSINESS!!!! Tape one to the inside of the drivers door window and tape one to the front of the steering wheel. Who ever gets into the car in the shop and drives it will get the idea.

My Doctor drives a Lexus. He tells me that every Friday he takes his car to the dealer were he gets a free hand wash which includes a vaccum, windows ,door jams ,wheels ,tire dressing. I guess he found a good dealer.

Yup, took my car in yesterday to get some warranty stuff done with the 12V and AUX oiutlet. tell them no wash every time, I go outside to the lot and look into the back, sure enough, its coming out of the automatic washer right behind a new Lexus IS250. I caught em before they could dry it, so now I have a white, probably swirled, spotted car sitting in my driveway

I buy my own oil, change my own oil in the diffs, tranny, tcase, and engine. Heck, I dont even let them do warranty work unless its something like a tranny replacement. My Jeep had a recall and I just did it myself, didnt trust them.

When it comes time to get new tires or get them balanced, I take them off and take them to them. Only a select few people ever get to work on my jeep. Keeps stupid people from doing stupid things.

I understand your pain, but car washes that are free are an amazing deal for about 99% of the people I know. I have friends that are like "just clean the inside" I can get it washed at the dealer. And I Try and try to explain how horrible those car washes are for the paint but they just look at me weird lol

I work for a highline new car dealer and we use the scratch "O" matic style car wash, i really dont think that the customers care they look at it as a free full service wash in and out. The only time they care is when they take delivery of their new car and i could tell the stories about this process a different day thou.

I don't have to worry about that. The dealership I usually do business with washes cars when sold, never after being serviced.

Or it may be that I always clean it real well just before getting there.

Well just got done doing my little fix-up. Spent about 2.5hrs washing, drying, UQD, Engine Cleaning, Tires, etc... I then proceed to use Swirl X and Scratch X 2.0 on my rear bumper and hatch. LSP with NXT 2.0. Results? Awesome!

It is not perfect, no, but its back to the "have to look to find the swirls" rather then "hey look at all those swirls!". Very happy with it. I also used some man power with SX2.0 to get out some deeper scratches. Very nice.

Product wise, Swirl X is very, very NICE. Long work time, excellent results.

Scratch X 2.0 has less work time it seems, but only by a hair. Excellent results. Very easy to work with!

btw, I used a DA doing most of the work, by hand the harder to reach places.

In the end, I got the new-dealer issued swirls out and then some. Some are still around here and there, but its back to its normal glory! Better than before I ever went to dealer.

VERY impressed with these new products. I did not bust out my ultimate compound just yet, but I have some areas that can use it... That is for my spring detail though!

Here are some pics! Two before and three afters.

In a weird way, it's kinda nice that are even still offering washes. 85% of the normal customers love this as most have no idea about paint care.....they just want it clean. So I understand why they do it but I don't understand that you said NO and they didn't listen. Well, at least you you'll be getting some practice time in soon.

When I bought my car, I said no wash. It was on a dusty lot, interior was dusty. If it had rained, it would have looked like it was covered in mud from off-roading. Of course I said no wash.

The guys made me promise that when my dealer checklist/evalutaion arrived, I would check that I recieved the car shiny and clean.

Whenever you go in for service you have to keep telling everyone, No Wash. I have even told the mechanic, walked over to the wash bay pointed out my vehicle. Told them no wash. When you make a pest of yourself they usually get the message.
