  • Photoshop question

Probably the simplest thing in the world, but I just can't figure it out.

This is probably right up Tyler's alley (roushstage2). I have Photoshop Elements and I cannot figure out how people distort their license plates in photos.

Yes, I can put a big ugly stripe over it, but I would like to look cool like the rest of you and "swirl" my license plate but unfortunatley I am having NO luck. Please help the slow kid.

There is a blur tool somewhere on the side bar....can't think of what it looks like off the top of my head.

There is a blur tool on the toolbar, but this is very simple and can be done editing through PhotoBucket as well.

I don't have photoshop on this computer but I believe it is under the "filter" menu. Just pick the area you want to swirl and then the swirl command.

          Re: Photoshop question

Try this. If the car (plates) are sitting symmetrically, then the normal selection box (rectangular marque box) would suffice to select them but for plates that are not sitting symmetrically, I tent to use the polygonal lasso tool to select the area, then go to filter - blur (choose the style you prefer). Voila you done.

            Re: Photoshop question

LOL, yeah. I do it one of two ways. I select the color of the plate and simply color over the lettering that way you don't distort the picture and simply have a blank plate or I select the plate and use the blur filter, IDK, 5 times? Enough to completely blur out the numbers.

Maybe Meguiars can come out with a photo software patch and call it Swirl-On!

              Sorry, couldn't resist...

People PM all the time about that signature line and everytime I read it, it still makes me laugh.

                And you can BALEE DAT!!!

                Rest of yall,

Thanks for all the tips. I'm going to try it out soon, I'll let you know. This is not an immediate thing, but for those of us living upon the frozen tundra, I feel like the more we think about detailing the sooner it will come.

It's supposed to warm up slightly a little later this week. I will have to detail all of my cars while I get the chance

Tried it and it worked. In fact, it was sooooo simple I feel *extra* dumb today.*
