  • Who has an H.I.D Kit

Hey Guys, Havent been on here so much, but I am looking for some feedback.

I am taking a trip down to missouri in the next couple weeks for a graduation. I have been wanting to get a set of these anyway before this trip came up but, Do any of you have HID lights? I keep on reading they are the difference between night and day.

I was thinking about getting the HIDS or some Silverstars which are cheaper? But would it be worth just going all out getting the hids when they are suppose to last along longer and have a better light.

    I have a set of HID. 8000k Gen 5.
They have a slight blue tint to them...
All I have to say is its awesome.

Check out Unique-coatings.com and email a guy named Chad and ask for the price of a Gen 5 Plug and Play kit. They do last longer and they are much brighter depending on what type you go for, 4000k is stock 6000k is pure white 8000k is white with a blue tint 10000k Blue and 12000k is a light purple.

I paid $240 for the HID kit but it has a life time warranty and to be honest, its worth every penny. Dont buy the cheap Ebay kits. If you want good light youll need to spend some good money.

The only thing is you have to drill a hole in the cap to run the new cables through which isnt a problem and you have to install a Ballast. (since HIDs need less power, they need something to convert the high energy to a lower power)

    Here is my HID

Installing HID Lights on aftemarketed on your car is actually illegal. Only cars that come stock with them are, but that doesn't stop everyone from doing so.

You cannot just pop in the HID kit on your standard headlights of your car. Your car has a Projecter Headlight Housings that are designed for much dimmer, Halogen Headlights. Installing the bulbs in these will cause a huge glare and your lights will be very uneven. This also "blinds" oncoming traffic and the cars in front.

Depending on your car model, you can find HID Housing sometimes. Otherwise, you are going to have to take apart your headlight and cut this, glue that, etc.

There are so many HID sites out there to help you out. And Youtube has some videos as well. I suggest going to Club Lexus Forums, and go the the Headlight Forum. They have so much info on there about all HID's.

Unless you're willing to spend about 600 dollars. You are better getting: Sylvania Silverstar ULTRA Halogen Headlights. They are amazing compared to what you probably have. They are THE brightest halogen, and are equal to the lowest HID Bulb.

I have them installed on all of my cars, they are great. But I want HID's so bad as well. The blue look just looks so much cooler IMO.

          Good Luck
          Matt

Yeah, I have decieded to just stick with the Silverstars. I didnt know they were illegal? I just dont feel like making all these changes on a car that isnt made for the hid lights. I dont wanna haft to run the ballast and all the stuff that comes with it. I have taked to a few people and they said they are great. I cant complain with the lights I have now, Im sure I will like the silverstars. Thanks for the info guys. Maybe in my next car I will get some!
