    Re: Any Credit specialist here?

You have to have some sort of Grace period. For God sake's you were a few hours late. Check your credit card agreement to see what the grace period is. Some is 5 days, some is 10 and the longest that I have known is 20. I cannot believe that they would act in such a hostile manner, when you are actually trying to pay it. (Not saying you are a liar bro. I am saying that I cannot believe, as in being shocked that they would act this way.)

Nick, the best advice is to hire an attorney to negotiate with the collection agency. You may even want to look into a prepaid legal service if you can't afford attorney fees upfront. Let the attorney handle the whole thing to avoid any mistakes a layperson like any of us might make. An attorney can successfully negotiate repayment without it affecting your credit score.

Yeah, an attorney would be the wise choice. But with all my recent medical bills, I'm going to have to sell some of my "toys" to get the cash up for some attorney fee's

I'll figure something out. They have to work with me at some point if they want their money.....right?

          Re: Any Credit specialist here?

I didn't read through everything, but I had a late CC payment because of a holiday. The payment didn't go through until the next day, the one and only late payment I've ever had so far in my life. I called Bank of America CS and was told it doesn't affect your credit until it is delinquent (a month or more overdue) and she knocked the fee in half which was the most she was allowed to do and reinstated my "special offer things," lol, on my card too. Not sure how everywhere else works, but even that seems very extreme!!

The free option is to get a hold of one of the credit reporting agencies and explain your situation to them and see what they will do, if anything. I was going to do this will my medical bill I disputed, just never got around to it. Oh well, it will be off of my credit by the time I will actually need it again...

Is it wrong for me to ask... What are you selling?

You seem to have the good toys!

I just got my credit card bill for this month. I paid last month the day after it was due. Just plain forgot about it. They charged me a late fee but then credited it back on. I think you need a different credit card company.

            Good luck with everything Nick!

                Need?!?! Nothing.

                Want?!?! Everything!

I've always wanted one of those cheap RC Helicopters from Walmart. Anything expensive I'm sure I would crash and break.

I can just tell you have good taste in toys and that you take care of your stuff. So if you do decide to sell, let me know. I don't have much disposable income anymore but I'll do what I can to help. I mean if it takes me buying a new toy to help out a fellow MOL member than that's what it takes.

What type of RC Cars? I was really into them for about 4 years and got out of it but recently rejoined the hobby.

Oh they're nothing special. Just some cheap electric models. I kind of cheaped out on these because I knew I would destroy them. Their original plans were to be jumped off the deck in the back of my house

                      Re: Any Credit specialist here?

FWIW. Just this week on the evening news they reported numerous similar occurrences. People who were late with a payment for the first time ever and only by a day or two and were nudged up to the 25-32% interest rates on their balances. Several were also dropped.

Apparently this is a new approach the CC companies are using to avoid a similar meltdown like what occurred in the mortgage industry. Several of these people had mailed their payments in plenty of time and were claiming either the postal service was at fault or that the CC company was slow to post their payments.

I know that my mail delivery has gone downhill in the last two months. Nearly a quarter of my mail is now arriving late. Some things never show up. I've filed a formal written complaint to the postal authorities but I suspect that will get lost too. LOL

In light of all the layoffs across the US, it wouldn't surprise me that less people doing the work will cause delays in delivery and in posting of payments.

Auto bill pay should eliminate this issue and give you an electronic dated record of the transaction.

I believe Chase is making some very unhappy customers! Who in their right mind would open up a new Chase account after hearing about all these peoples problems?

                            Re: Any Credit specialist here?

OK, update or WAMU and my credit card situation.

Talked to the bank again, and kept my cool.
They called me asking why I had not attempted to make a payment. I informed them of the entire situation that happened, and the girl on the phone was shocked. She really didn't say too much about it(I'm sure she couldn't), but I could tell by what she was saying and how she said it.
She asked if I were able to make a payment, and I said yes. She instructed me that it would be $14x.xx to catch everything up, and I agreed. Then I asked about future payments. She told me that my minimum payment would be $25 per month. When I questioned the $25 being less than the finance charges she put me on hold for about 5 minutes to talk to her supervisor. She came back on the phone, and get this....She told me there would be no finance charges as long as I made the $25 minimum payment on time every month. I about pooped my pants when she said that. I had her repeat it, and even questioned her about it. No finance charges will be applied as long as I make the $25 minimum payment on time. I asked her about opening the account, and she said that she's already opened it back up

I told her to put it in writing, and mail that to me immediately! She said that she was making notes about that as we speak, and the letter would go out shortly.

So what do you guys think about this? I am really confused. Did she speak without thinking, or is this something they really do? I know they want their money, and I owe this money(not disputing that). At $25 per month and no finance charges, is this too good to be true?

I'm not sure what to think. Hope it works out as she promised!
