  • Rank These LSPs!

Okay guys, this is COMPLETELY subjective but I'm trying to get a feel for which NON-Meguiars LSPs from the following list are your favorites (in anticipation of another spring time wax test).

I'm going to put down a list of LSPs I read a lot about online. So, I want everyone to give me TWO rankings, as follows.

I'll give a bunch of LSPs and if you've used them, rank them from your personal experience (looks, feel, durability and ease of application/removal). There is NO right or wrong answer, just opinion.

The second list will comprise the same waxes and I want to get your opinion about which comes with the most to least hype.

Here are the 5 LSPs I want you to rank.

    1. Dodo Juice Supernatural

    2. Pinnacle Souveran

    3. Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0

    4. P21s 100%

    5. Poorboys World Natty's Red Wax

I've never used any of these so I cannot rank them in the first part. I can however rank them according to what I see on the internet in terms of hype. Here is how I would rank them for hype:

    1. Pinnacle Souveran - Internet hype champ! I cannot wait to get my hands on some when I do my next test. If this stuff is 1/2 as good as the hype, it will be amazing. It's been around for a long time so that has probably added to the reputation.

    2. Dodo Supernatural - Big price, big hype. Again, really good stuff online about it and I can buy the tester size so as not to break the bank.

    3. Wolfgang 3.0 - A big step down in hype, but still a lot out there.

    4. P21's 100% - Toss up in hype between this and WG 3.0 but still think I need it for my test.

    5. PB's Natty's Red - This seems to get a lot of hype from a small group. Not to big on including this in my next test because it doesn't come with the same type of hype as the others and I am very jaded against PB's products.

** So, am I right am I wrong... give me your thoughts. What's the best from your experience and which has the most hype? If there is something (other than Zaino) that you think gets more hype than what I've included, let me know and I'll consider it, if I find it gets sufficient hype.

(FWIW, I'm not using "hype" in a bad way... maybe the hype is warranted: hence the hype - I just want to get the LSPs with the most buzz around them).

In terms of internet reviews, I would put Supernatural above Souveran. And I would put Chemical Guy's 50/50, not included in your list, above Natty's Red. Wolfgang 3.0 is a sealant and should not be ranked with the carnaubas. Different class of fish. IMHO.

I've used 4 out of the 5 you have listed. To tell you the truth, I can't really tell what any do on a correctly polished surface. They may add some gloss here and there but man, there is a lot of money in that list!

I did a black M3 last week and the customer requested Souveran. I then did half the hood in it and then the other half in NXT. He thought that side with Souveran was unwaxed compared to the gloss of NXT!

        Crazy huh?

          3Fitty,

I can't speak for all of them but let me know when you do your test, I have a bottle of Wolfgang 3.0 that I used once. I'll send it to you when your ready.

            Al,

I have not seen a lot of 50/50 hype, but I'll be on the look out.

I don't mind that WG 3.0 is a sealant compared to the others because I'll be comparing them all to NXT 2.0 on a black Audi (not for a few months), but thanks for the suggestion.

As for the Souveran/Supernatural distinction... you could be right. I guess Supernatural is relatively new on this side of the pond whereas Souveran is kind of like the boutique staple.

            Justin,

Thanks, you just ruined my need for a test! Just kidding. Souveran is definitely high on the list.

              Thanks Andy!!! Much appreciated.

I've never worked on a black anything so even though I'm months away from working on it (on account of 7 foot snow banks in my driveway), I'm kind of getting psyched to start.

Supposedly, Supernatural is the same as their Diamond White wax.

Anyways, I think the waxes you picked are some of the most talked about. I would definately like to see Wolfgang Fuzion added to the testing.

Well you aren't really even that far away and I have a black Impala SS, thats ready for a makeover. I personally can't wait for a break in the weather.

                    Re: Rank These LSPs!

Lusso Oro has gotten a fair amount of hype recently. I got a jar for free due to a big order I placed, so I gave it a try.

First impression was that it was AWESOME. It was insanely easy to work with- reminded me a lot of Gold Class, but possibly easier to remove. Smelled great, sort of like Last Touch with a twist.

I thought I found a great new wax...until I washed my car. It showed virtually no evidence of water sheeting or beading. The surfaces I didn't wax (windows) behaved virtually identically to the areas that I did wax.

This was with 3 coats, applied 30-45 minutes apart.

In the end the lack of durability and noticeable protection (which I realize is just a preference...beading or sheeting doesn't tell everything), I decided to only use it for things like shows as a final topper.

I'd like to see Collinite tossed into the comparisons. If you are looking specifically at higher priced options, then I understand why Collinite is not in the list...but I'd put its durability up against anything!

Two reasons I did not include it:

                        1. I used 845 in my last test and it was amazing and;

                        2. I don't think it has quite the hype of some of those on the list.

                          Re: Rank These LSPs!

I have used Lusso Oro on about 25-30 cars, while I do love how easy it is to apply both on and off it does suffer a bit of durability(atleast to the eye). I find that it beads very well at first application but even after 2 or 3 weeks here in the FL sun it deteriorates very quickly. This was with only 1 or 2 applications just to clear that up.

I have just recently purched P21S 100% Past Wax and I must say as much as I liked Lusso Oro, I am going to have to give a slight edge to the P21S. It applies just as easily if not easier than Lusso. It does not "bead" as well as Lusso, but is very SLICK which I find even better IMO than beading, as the water seems to just repel and slide right off the car. I have not yet had the chance to test durability on this wax yet.

And lastly I picked up a sample of Dodo Juice supernatural. I have found that I like the look of this wax, but it is for sure different than the two above. I found that Lusso and P21s give a more CRISP look to the car, where as the Dodo gives a deeper warmer look to the car. It applies very easily as well, you can actually wax the entire car and then come back to buff off, where I find Lusso can get quite hard if you leave it too long. With that said, I do like the Dodo wax but I cant say its quite worth the $200/pot. I am glad I tried it though!

i cant say for certain on the others but i have experience with natty's blue and red, and honestly the blue in my eyes gives deeper richer colors than the red, but they both last the same and are exactly the same to apply

                              PD,

Thanks, that was a great and very informative post. I've read a lot about Lusso Oro and I will consider it for my next test. Great info!! Dodo definitely must be a part of the test as does P21's 100%. I think Supernatural, Souveran and P21's 100% are the top three hype waxes. I will be very excited to see how they come out.

                              BMD,

I used Natty's Blue on my last test (there is a very long thread called the "Great 9 Wax Shootout"). I didn't see any discernable difference in the looks of any of the products and liked parts of Blue, but mostly did not like it. That is why I figured I might give Red a try, although anyone who knows me on MOL knows that I don't get along very well with Poorboys products!!! LOL
