  • Anyone knowledgeable with hot tubs?

My girl and I just picked up a used hot tub and really don't know what year or model it is (guessing 2003). I couldn't find any info other than it was a CalSpa. There are no other markings or lables/logo's anywhere...

I want to get a manual for it but need to know what model it is. I joined a Spa forum, but traffic seems to be very minimal. Figured I'd turn to my MOL homies for an answer.

    Some phone pics...

    Thanks,

I found a Hot Tub discussion forum once to get help with one of the Hot Tubs we've owned over the years. It was a California built Hot Tub that the company went out of business but another company still offered parts for it.

Can't remember the name but I do remember it was slow/low traffic forum.

Just about any Hot Tub dealer that offers hot tub servicing should be able to inspect it and fix anything that's broken.

There's only a handful of companies that make the guts for these things and all the repair business have access to the parts and can figure out what you need. All you have to do is pay $$$$

My new job since I've been laid off is working with pools and spas. I'm working to bring them all up to the current VGB codes.

With that said, I've been only doing this for a week and a half. So I'm no help.

Other than searching the internet I wouldn't know where to find a manual.

Like Mike said, check with a local company. I have two meeting tomorrow with the local pool company in town, I'll see if I can find out anything for you.

Edit: I'm guessing you found this link... Cal Spas Product Manuals

        Yep.

Well the closest thing I have been able to find, is that it's the digital display is the 2300 series....but they look the same for a few years. I've been all over the net trying to find a pic of the same one with no luck.

Everything works fine, or at least it did before it was moved.

I just want the manual for connections, diagnosing problems, chemicals...

This is really my girls purchase, I'm just along for the ride, but it's looking to be a lot of work.

Does a $1000 seem like it was too much for something like this? New they are way too expensive. All the ones on Craigslist in my area seemed priced higher and didn't look as nice.

Did you still have one? What are/were your thoughts on owning one?

I love using them, just not sure how much work this is going to end up being.

It really depends on how much you use and how much you enjoy the thing. For me, it turned out like excercise equipment but a lot more costly to keep running. At least the excercise stuff was a good place to store dust so it didn't get to other parts of the house. Ended up trading my eight person spa for a case of beer and never regretted it.

Sorry Rasky but the pool guy forgot to show up for the meeting so I couldn't ask him. I did check their website and they don't carry that brand so I'm guessing I won't be much help. If you have any questions just let me know and I can probably ask at our next meeting.

Re: Anyone knowledgeable with hot tubs?

Well finally after about paying about $1200 for the electrical and moving of the spa, it finally got used for the first time last night!

I was able to find the year (2002) after talking with a local CalSpa dealer. I did end up having to replace one PVC pipe, but other than that all was well. So far it is working great and I couldn't be happier. I was also surprised to see that the lights changed multiple colors...kinda neet I thought.

Thanks for all the help guys.

                          Or neat

Those things are awesome to have, and that is one of my next big purchases after I get back to work. But I'm going to have to beef up the deck in order to hold the weight.

Back in 2000, I had one in a house we used to own. Hop in that thing about 30 minutes before bed, and I slept like a baby. Loved it! Keep up with the chemicals, and it won't give you any problems. Make sure the water circulates throughout the day also. But I'm sure you already knew all of this

Yeah, we hopped in it last night before bed, slept like a champ!. It was only about 15 degrees outside too! My back was a little sore after working out at the gym and sitting in there helped a lot. Each seat is set up too message a different area of the body. Should be great after an 8+ hour day of buffing.

I'm starting on that '68 Vette today and I'm sure I'll be sore by the time I'm done.

I suggest looking at at your local spa shop they could help you out.

Or google Calspa and search the models.
