Has anyone ever used this before?
    Any good results?
I have used Rain X until this came along and thought I would give it a try. I believe it will be the last I will use it!
I will admit, I did apply it when the temperatures maybe weren't the best but, I never thought I would have a mess as I do now. This stuff leaves a nasty film on the on the windows and I am unable to get it off. I have washed my car serveral times scrubbing the windows to get it off. It just smears. Yesterday, I took some vinegar and water to get it off and it came off well enough that I can finally see out the back window.

I guess what I am asking, Has anyone else had this trouble? Got any suggestions to get my windows actually clean again?

    Re: Rain Clear

Sorry, I have never tried that stuff.
That is odd, are you sure you wiped it off like you would with Rain X?
I would try using Rain X or something with alcohol and a glass cleaner with ammonia.

      Re: Rain Clear

I tried it and got the same results...

The stuff was a pain to remove. I worked it in (following the directions), but it smeared like crazy when I went to wipe it off. Once I thought it was all clean, I pulled it out in the sun and it looked horrible.

Finally, I got rid of the smears, but I tried out my new set of wipers and it was back to square one.

Needless to say, it is going in the back of the detailing cabinet.

I removed the stuff using some Detailer Glass Cleaner.

Usually, I apply a coat of NXT 2.0 or M16 to the glass and it really works well.

I highly siggest 'Aquapel'. Its from PPG, comes in measured applications and is easy to apply.

I have never heard of that, I might have to give it a try. I was happy with the Rain X. It worked well. I am always up for trying something new and use the best stuff out there. this one needs to go back to the drawing boards!

            Re: Rain Clear

I used to use Rain X, but then I switched to UQD (Ultimate Quik Detailer).
I think it works great maybe even better than Rain X

              Re: Rain Clear

I had the exact same results as you Tyler. I used it once and now the bottle is going to sit on the shelf and collect dust. It doesn't repell rain any better than Rain-X but is MUCH harder to remove. Terrible product IMO.

I heard people "wax" the glass too. I never do it. It's interesting.

                    Re: Rain Clear

Yeah it works, but if you use the wipers a lot like I do the wax doesn't last very long. I stick with Rain-X.

                      Re: Rain Clear

Some people get wiper chatter when they wax, some dont. Same as using RainX I guess, some get wiper chatter, some dont.

But if it works for you you can do it.

I'm in the "chatter" category in my Mustang, though my truck never has a problem with it? Silly cars...

I had the same results with Rain Clear. The glass looked really bad. It actually highlighted the scratches and pits on my windshield. I tried everything to get the stuff off.

Not to highjack the thread, but I had a windshield replaced and my insurance company had a promotion where I got a free application of PPG aquapel. Previously I had always used Rain-X.
After about 9 months I began to notice a spotted pattern on the windshield that wouldn't come off no matter what I did. Was this the aquapel wearing off? Would a fresh coat of aquapel eliminate this?
I know a picture is worth a thousand words but I don't have the truck anymore - just curious for future reference...

I still haven't gotten any Aquapel, but I doubt that it would have caused that. I have seen what you are describing before on windows that I'm sure never had Aquapel on them.
