Ulitmate Detailing Dream - Presidential Cadillac

I am in an airport right now watching the Presidential motorcade make its way to the White House and it made me think about getting the opportunity to detail one of those "USA 1" Cadillacs. I saw a show about Air Force One and how it gets hand waxed from top to bottom, nose to tail before every mission, so it made me think about the level of quality they would expect from a limo that many people could get much closer to.

Any thoughts?

that cadi is huge. from the tv, the roof top is in line with the SS guys heads, the top of the tires are over their waists, and the hood comes up to their chests.

that car looks like a tank. it would be intersting to read the specs on it.

If I remember from another show (I guess I watch a lot of TV), the new limo is actually not based on the traditional stretched DTS platform but atcual one of the GM truck platforms. I don't remember if it was the Sierra or Suburban, but it was some thing like that.

All I know is that it would certainly give a new meaning to the phrase "bullet-proof" clear coat!

Other than glam shots taken while posing for a photoshoot, in the pix I’ve seen of presidential limos they’re always clean but completely swirled to heck.

Not surprising for a car that has to be continuously handled by a security and maintenance personnel, loaded in and out of military transports, etc, etc.

Headed up by the Detailing Czar with 5 offices underneath him

- Office of Prep/Cleaning
- Office of Polishing
- Office of Protection

When the presidents were leaving the White House yesterday, The sun hit the limo's and it was swirl city. What a disappointment. I understand that the vehicles are handled a lot. However that does not mean the have to look like that.

Did anyone catch the part when they were talking about how good the engines on the presidents plane looked? Get this, they said they use windex on them.

I bet most of use can do a better job detailing than the people they get to do those cars they ride around in.

Well sure, doesn't everyone have that option installed? I know I do -- it really helps to clear out the traffic.

That's all the politcal ones I can think of right now, but there should also be a Dr. DA as well.
