  • Domain Registration, Website Hosting?

I know this has been discussed a few times but I couldn't find a thread about it. I didn't look too far back since this information tends to get outdated quickly.

So what's a good place to use? Is godaddy decent?

For right now I just want to get a name and worry about the site later on.

Also a big thanks to some advice from Mike Phillips. I picked a name for my business and checked to see if the website was available. It was not. So a slight change in the name, abbreviate two words, and I end up with a 6 letter dot com that is easy to remember and available.

Thanks in advance for any website input!

Edit: Why do all my subject lines look like spam. lol

That's the first thing I wondered when I saw the subject title, but when I saw you had posted it the banning stick was put a way.

Thanks for putting the stick away!

After I posted it I laughed. I had to add that. I couldn't think of anything less spammy. (I may have invented a new word.)

Haha, I thought the same thing (SPAM).

I have heard GoDaddy is one of the cheaper routes as well.

I would make sure that you host all of your domains in one spot. (Just incase you end up wanting other domains later for other projects) When I started my business that I used to own I started with one company, then started buying domains through several different sites. Now even though there were some great deals on the domains it was a P.I.T.A. to remember which domain was where. Make sure you leave auto renewal on, or else you might forget to renew your domain and then end up with some fake search site where your website is supposed to be. GoDaddy is fine. I hose with cirtexhosting when you get hosting I would check to see if they have a program called fantastico in their control panel. It has some nice one click program installs that might help building your site a little easier. I am not the best at explaining things so hope this helps.

                Shhhh, don't tell everyone!

This isn't for a detailing business. I think I might try to be self employed again doing drafting.

                      LOL. I couldn't resist.

Good luck Scott! My girl was talking to one of her recruiter contacts, and he said that drafting jobs were still pretty strong. I've been getting a little worried myself, 8 more people got laid of at my company yesterday.
