Then I usually use about 1 bottle for a car wash. So maybe I use 5 ounces of soap instead of 4 to wash.

Of course pre-washing would raise that amount, and I admit to putting a little extra in if the car is super dirty.
So is your process with it as follows?

    Rinse
    Foam
    Wash
    Rinse

OK, now I am shopping - finding it cheaper than I thought... and after reading other reviews sounds like a very good option.

BTW....You'll want quick conencts and a shut off as well.

No, I pretty much wash same as one would with a soapy water bucket. Just the soap comes from the gun.

        So it is more like:
        1. Good rinse with hose
        2. Spray some soap on half of roof, little on mitt, and wash.
        3. Flip mitt over, spray some soap on half of trunk lid, some on mitt, and wash.
        4. Rinse mitt in fresh water.

Do a few panels / partial panels like that, and then rinse off soap when needed.

If I am working on a car that has already had paint correction I use 2 bucket, 2 grit guards, AND a foam gun 100% of the time. I take no chances...

75QGFMR - Quart Foam Gun w/Multi-Ratio Stem and Deflector

I think that would be the Gilmour model you want...

Looks like you answered my next question - I would guess there is no 'rinse' setting on the gun thats the need for quick connect and shutoff? Remove gun to rinse, correct?

EDIT: After a little research that is the model.

Re: European detailer stereotype (foam gun)

Well, if you flip the "adjustable stem" over, it blocks the soapy water, and only water from the hose comes out. But it isnt the same pressure/flow as the hosewater would be, so it doesnt make for as nice of a rinse. But it is a quick way to get clean water.

Then taking it off completly for a proper rinse. But I still doubt you want to unscrew stuff every time.

                  EDIT:
Actualy, the bottle assembly and the trigger are 2 seperate assemblies, also quick connected together. So you could use just the trigger for a strong spray if you wanted, or attatch the bottle assembly right to the hose-end shut off if you dont like the trigger.

                      Thats not a bad video....

He's probably spraying down a bit more soap than I do, but the more the merrier.... Also appears to be using the half-gallon bottle.

Excellent thread. I've been wondering about the benefits of having a foam gun and how the wash process would go.

Thanks to the op and all the posters.

This is what i use and is a cheaper alternative to the Gilmour. Its made by Karcher and sure you can get them in the US. Can be attached to hose or Pressure Washer.

How do you attach that to a hose? It has a bayonet fitting to fit a Karcher PW gun.

You can buy an adapter that fits between the Foam Gun and the hose. Made by Hozelock.
