    Re: ShamWOW

I don't know if we are talking about the same product or not, but there are mall kiosks (sp?) that sell chamois and give a short demo to the customers. I've never bought one, but they usually had out little 3x3 squares of the product for free. I keep them in my car to blot up stains, works very well. Having said that, the material feels very scratchy to me...texture kinda reminds me of fiberglass insulation. Would not trust it near my paint.

Why use it on a neighbors. Try a section next to your mom's hood were you used the carpet. I know you used the carpet to conduct a test. Just having some fun.

When the Sham guy pours a botle of soda on the carpet square, you can see soda in front of and under the square. When the camera cuts to him moving towards the spill with a SW, there is no soda in front of the square, Not the spill you just saw!!

            Re: ShamWOW

At a car show several years ago, there was a man selling these "ShamWOWs".
I asked him several difficult questions, he got snotty, I walked away without any of them. I don't know if he was an actual employee (probably wasn't), but I decided to not buy them anyway.

The guy is amazingly annoying, and that is all it takes for me to boycott their product.

I am set with my watermagnets, squeegees, and Chamois made by Black Magic.

If anyone has one, please post a review!

The shamwow guy is always at the cincinnati car show each year and I avoid him lol.
He is very annoying like Billy Mays lol.

The Commercial that you all see is fake/rigged.
The coke spilling into the carpet square is badly rigged.
There is a spill on a clip than the next its gone when he is ready to use the towel.

Back when I was a newbie detailer I purchased

Permaseal:The Lazy Man's Wax which is about filling in scratches, that came with some chamois. "Made in Germany" I hated them personally, they felt very cottony like or something never used them again.....

Since the Shamwow's can be cut and used as rugs and such. They are probably similar to these. You can't really cut a microfiber cloth down the middle like the commercial shows.

I would like to see someone buy them and review them.

For those who have not seen the commercial he is a link. After reading the comment about the coke being gone after a scene, nice eyes. I saw it too. The coke was gone.

Someone posted a video of an actual live demonstration at a car show and the carpet thing worked. I am sure they work well, I just wouldn't use them on cars either.

Sorry I messed up, I could not go back and edit to due the time limit being up. Here is an updated version.

For those who have not seen the commercial he is a link. After reading the comment about the coke being gone after a scene, nice eyes. I saw it too. The coke was gone.
The coke thing I was talking about was this:

"When the Sham guy pours a botle of soda on the carpet square, you can see soda in front of and under the square. When the camera cuts to him moving towards the spill with a SW, there is no soda in front of the square, Not the spill you just saw!!"- ronniejay page 2

I edited it because there was some misunderstanding. Sorry for the misunderstanding

                            Re: ShamWOW

My grandfather got a shamWow for Christmas as a joke along with a few other infomercial products and gave one to me. I have never used it, but did see if it could absorb a glass of water from a bowl like in the commercial and found it worked surprisingly well though not near the commercials exaggerations.

That being said, IMHO the product feels fairly rough and similar to a big piece of felt which I don't think should come into contact with the paint unless you're looking to install swirls.
I will probably use it around the house, but I will stick to my water magnets for the car.

I noticed that in the commercial the towel is not stiff. Perhaps, you soak it first to expand the weave and soften the fabric? Then use it after wringing it out? I am sticking with Megs, but "blotting"?
