  • ShamWOW

I have seen the commercials on TV and it looks like it works well. I read reviews on line and it was inconclusive. I was wondering if anyone has tried ShamWOW and what do you think of it?

    Re: ShamWOW

I saw a guy selling them in our local mall and it looks like the same old fiber shammy that's been hyped at car shows for decades, nothing new, same old thing.

It looked cloth or fibrous to me, I didn't get too close as I didn't what the sales pitch. From experience, any other type of popular material we talk about on this forum is going to perform better.

That said, someone should take a hit for the forum and buy one and then review it for the forum's benefit.

In the commercial the demonstration makes it look amazing, almost too good to be true... so remember, anytime something looks too good to be true, often times it is.

Okay... whose up to take hit for the forum?

I will use one around the kitchen and bathroom but on my car????? Maybe I will pull out one of the hoods I used to practice my rotary on and see how it works.

        Re: ShamWOW

I was detaling my uncle's car this past summer and they had a shamwow they wanted me to try on their car. I told them i was skeptical of it and that it might leave swirls, but they insisted. We tried it on a section and i was not impressed with the drying ability. It seemed to just move the water around and leave behind a bunch of yellow threads. It was hard to tell if it left swirls just because the paint was already badly swirled. Overall, I wasn't impressed with it.

I'm not sure there's any more swirl or scratching risks with the ShamWOW over any other product as long as it's clean, just not sure it's any better or more durable like our drying products or even the tried and true Absorber product.

Personal preference of course. Let's do keep this thread positive.

No problems, that's why I posted the reminder... just like polishing paint is an art forum, discussing a product, company or person without outright bashing is an art form... it can be done but it takes just a little more effort.

We just don't want our forum to look like all the rest in this aspect and we're confident that our membership is of the caliber and class to maintain a higher standard.

I agree I would use one in the house, but I wouldn't dare use it on my car... yet.

I *think* someone posted what the material is made of on another forum and the conclusion was that type of material should not come in contact with paint.
